What you've run into is that there is nothing set in stone. Omega changed the dial over the years and kept the same reference number. Happened quite frequently. For example, I have a Seamaster from the 50s where "OMEGA AUTOMATIC" and "CALENDAR" were printed in one run and "Seamaster" added later.

We only have examples we can find online and educated guesses. There are few absolutes when you consider a watch bought in 1955 saw a watchmaker every two to three years as a matter of routine, and others never had them serviced as long as it still ran.

I really want to see that piece, can you post a picture please?

But that’s true! I agree 100%.

Not only was "Seamaster" printed after, the dial was misaligned when they did it.

That’s weird but special, you can see that it’s the authentic print by Omega anyway. Clearly not a redial!

Nice bracelet btw, love it!

Thanks! This was a US Collection watch, so the lug width is 11/16 of an inch, not 18mm. This is a vintage 11/16" aftermarket bracelet that fits really well.

Sure?

I am. There is no reason for a redialer to print with two different color inks with two different weights.

The picture is not all that great, but if you saw it through a loupe, you'd know.

With all the greatest respect, this dial looks odd to me.

I completely agree with you... as I said, it was misaligned when they printed "Seamaster". Doing a web search, I have seen a few with the exact same misalignment.

Today, Omega wouldn't let that out of the door. Then? Who knows?

I have a Lemania you would swear was a redial... except another member here posted a watch with the exact same dial with the exact same flaws.

I think "good enough" was good enough back in the day.

I think, since not being liked here that much, I second your emotion. I'm simply not good enough.

Not sure what you mean but I always pay attention to things you say.

Let's take the easy way:

OMEGuy should post?

1. Yes
2. No

GIve me logic, not aphorisms.

Listen, we're trying to deduce what happened 70 years ago. As I said above, all there is, are educated guesses. Anyone who is absolutist in this business is a fool.

If the dot is a lume plot, the OP can use a UV light to see if it fluoresces. If it doesn't fluoresce, it's probably a hole. I think he actually is missing an index, and suspect that if the dial were removed, you would see the empty rivet hole in the back of the dial.

So I am here, just in case you want to see or hear something.
