Hi everyone,

I just got this Omega Constellation Pie Pan Hidden Crown for 800€.
It's a 168.004 Cal. 561 - 1963 ?

My questions for you the experts would be:
i) to me it's a real one, right?
ii) is the dial patina acceptable?
iii) the crown is not original and not signed. Is it difficult to get a new one?
iV) any other opinions about the watch are welcome.

Thank you for your feedbacks.
Merci beaucoup !

Welcome,

The 'patina' on the dial is really an owner preference - if you are happy with the look then that is fine, you will find everyone has their own opinion. To me it is damaged and unattractive, I would dismiss the watch on that basis, it also looks like the hands could be aftermarket replacements, especially the hour hand.

However the case corrosion to the rear is the real killer for me - it looks really bad, both on the case back and case body, plus it has been polished down on the bezel. I would not forgive this on a Constellation. The movement condition at first glance also appears poor, but would need more investigation.

I would be inclined to return it and shop here on the forum instead, perhaps spending a little more if you can stretch to it for a much cleaner example

Hi Sharp,

Thank you very much for your prompt and detailed reply.
I also had a doubt on the hands.
I was considering in declining the deal; your keen eye and expertise have convinced me.

Thanks again,
Gaëtan
