Hello.
I want to buy this watch (for a guy on Ebay) but I'm not 100% sure if it's genuine. and do not know what to look for (since I am only 19, and am relatively new to the world of watches)
hope you can help me again.

Genuine but the dial would be too dirty for me

Strap and buckle are fakes.

The watch itself looks genuine, but has been ridden hard and hung up wet.

You will have great difficulty finding a 10-sided replacement crown.

I would not recommend this one unless it is very cheap and you can afford no better.

Good luck with your search.

I've seen this one on eBay as I'm also looking for the same reference, but the condition is really bad: dirty dial, overpolished case, movement not in great shape.

Check out this thread to see good examples. The lugs should be sharp and facets should be visible. In your example they are all rounded off by overpolishing.

That calibre is tired and the Centrale Boites needs a good cleaning.

Keep doing what you’re doing. Study this site, look at the references provided, keep asking questions, and be patient. By doing this you will find a nice example of the reference you seek and be proud to own it. Good job!

Looks like the seller wanted to flip it without any work done on the watch, dirty dial and case, overpolished lugs and this "authentic" Omega strap and buckle bought for $20 from eBay. Skip it.

Keep doing what you’re doing. Study this site, look at the references provided, keep asking questions, and be patient

It really seems to be like fishing. Got to be patient but move quick when you see one. Good ones get away and go fast. Final minutes of auction a bit frantic, and end result is often a fair price rather than huge bargain. Sometimes it can be more like gambling eg taking a chance on bad photos apparently a single item from a clear out . I think Constellations are one of the most challenging as they go for quite a lot . Personally for this amount of money if possible I would by from a forum member - some of those who have commented sometimes sell.

I definitely agree, which is why the "how to fish" thread is so good and important to read. Although this is the case, people (myself included) get caught up in a piece that they really want on ebay or other. When you're in that mindset, you jump on pieces and sometimes go a little overboard. In the end of the day, there almost always will be another watch and usually a nicer one will come up.
