Hi All
I noticed that there is very little discussions on Constellation series. Mostly members seem to have Seamasters, Speedmasters, etc. Where as in our part of the world, the most popular series is Constellation. Is this because of the difference in preferences based on regions? Or probably because Seamasters/Speedmaster are better investment?
Apologies for my ignorance if I am jumping towards a false conclusion. Would love to hear members feedback!
Ok. I probably got it wrong then.Members are big fans of vintage constellation but I think modern constellation not much.
Agreed, the size could be one of the reasons.
You are right in thinking that there is a lot of love for vintage Constellations but not so much for the more modern versions.
(pre-Globemaster/Constellation)
The 'claw-cased' Constellations were the height of desirability when they were produced but are an acquired taste.
Couple that with the move to quartz movements, then they don't get much air-time here.
I do know that they remain incredibly popular in the east, I worked with two Korean guys and both owned (quartz) claw-cased Constellations which they were very proud of.
As I am much more a vintage collector, I lover he older constellation. Problem for me to wear is the relatively small size. The new ones are beautiful and have a great quality but the price is not low enough for me to buy one or two additional ones. But the blue ones or with calendar I would prefer. Globemaster
Isn't Elvis Presley's omega watch that went on auction?
Yes but I think in some of the pictures doing the rounds he was wearing a gold Seamaster. This was his redialed, dome dial Constellation which got auctioned....
This is of course a crystal ball question, but anyone else think they’re undervalued and will pick up at some point? They’ve been growing on me a little bit lately.
Also, they're ugly (the watches, not the ladies) 😗
I've only have the one, a very under rated watch, and I wouldn't mind a Mission Hills chrono at some point.
No worries, it was just a joke. Tastes are different and may not correlate with a watch's desirability in the general market. It's still possible for them to take off (see the Newman Daytonas, which were not very popular when released, either).
I've never got Genta's designs and still some have become classics. All fine by me. 😀
Yes but I think in some of the pictures doing the rounds he was wearing a gold Seamaster. This was his Pie Pan which got auctioned....
