Omega Constellation - how many things are wrong with the dial?

Hello,

This Constellation is being offered by a very nice seller who, like me, is an enthusiastic beginner but is very open to feedback. I’m going to say to him that I’m pretty sure it’s a redial, but I wanted to be accurate and fair in what I told the seller. This is my thinking – I’d be very open to your amendments:

1 The most obvious thing would seem to be the vertical cross hairs and the fact they do not intersect the writing. Aesthetically, I actually prefer the way it is on this watch, but this is about (correct dial) facts and not my feelings!

2 I tried a MOY test with a piece of paper held up to the screen and the MOY actually line up quite well, but the first ‘l’ in Constellation is a little bit further away from the line than you might expect.

3 One thing I’ve learned to look at is the ‘M’s, and it seems that an upside-down ‘W’ style is authentic for the ‘automatic’. The ‘M’ in ‘chronometer’ is different, but does that make it wrong. I’m sure I’ve seen authentic pieces which have that, but I might be wrong.

4 Is not the star and the 6 marker a little bit wonky, or is that just my imagination?

The watch is being described as a 504 from 1958, but I haven’t seen the movement.

No doubt I’m missing a lot of basic things, but I’m learning, and I’m treating this to some extent as one to learn from. Thanks as ever for your advice.

Let’s just say that nothing is right on that dial. A very, very poor redial IMO. Where is it being sold?

Thanks - it has to be pretty bad for even me to spot things amiss!
It's on Ebay but the pictures were terrible there so he did these specially for me.

As others have said, it is a redial.

But for future reference, you can have straight and slanted Ms on this reference.
However, it shouldn’t have crossed Ts in Constellation.

what is really peculiar are the rounded letters of OMEGA.
Early references have a rounded Omega symbol but I can’t say I’ve ever seen rounded lettering before. (Which, given the work that’s been done to the dial, makes me suspicious.)

Thank you - and an amazing spot on that rounded lettering.
I now have lots more items on the checklist for future watches that come up.

Both "n" 's are wrong in Constellation
Never lines connecting to make it appear to be a pie pan
