Omega Constellation: How bad of a fake is it?

Found this while rummaging through my dad's belongings. He passed away in 2005 and did like to wear fancy things, but I find it hard to believe he would spend good money on a Constellation without bragging about it every now and then.

I'm almost positive its a fake, but I'd like to be told I'm wrong.

oh, and it's not a stainless case. Constellation on the dial and Deville on the back?

Funny. In a way they are openly saying it's fake on the whole caseback, while trying to make the dial passable. Weird.
Caseback issues:
Stainless steel back, so the case is base metal
Deville, isn't it supposed to a connie?
JAPAN? Why not fake Switzerland?

@Bruce235 That's what tripped me up lol. The only possible explanation I could have is that my dad decided to cheap out on replacing the caseback (assuming something happened). I suppose I'd have to get the movement checked to see if its got anything genuine in it, but I doubt it.

That being said, I can't find a reference for the dial. None of the constellations I've seen have a date on the bottom, always to the side.

That's not what I meant. The whole thing is super fake. The dial is trying to imitate the real thing, but the case back is twighlight zone.

I'm willing to bet the case back is a snap on / off type even though it looks like a screw. Seen these before many times. Cheap China quartz movement inside.

That said, throw in a new battery, I bet it keeps good time 😀

How “bad” a fake is this? There are “degrees” of fakes? This one is unlikely to fool anyone who ever had seen the real thing.

Oh sweet -- an Omega Mullet! These are as rare, er uncommon, as hens teeth. I believe it was a limited edition, intended for sale at OBs in the SE portion of the US. Manufactured in the 1980s. This one is in pretty decent shape; most are bald by now.

Mullet. Yes. Why didn't I think of that. God I can see it. Sweat headband. Blue blockers. Dirty white Reebok Pump high tops. White Corvette.

Chrono24 sellers listing list them as the Omega "Joe Dirt".

But seriously. If the listing said "Authentic Japanese Fake Omega -- $17" I wouldn't see a problem.
