Omega Constellation Grand Luxe Vs De Luxe

This is my first thread, thats why I would like to introduce myself: I am a Omega Collector since a few years, coming from Austria (pls. don't mix it up with Austalia) and I am specializing on not so common models/movements. I have been following this forum since some time and have enjoyed the funny quotes even when members were commenting my acquisitions.
Attached are some pics from my Constellations and I wonder, why my two brickband models do not have the Reference numbers for these versions (368.802 and 368.803) - maybe in both cases the brickbands have been added at a later time. At the same time I have to add that I prefer the de Luxe model with its classic design.

1) Ref. 2853 (de Luxe)
2) Ref. 168.002 (Calendar Grand Luxe)
3) Ref. 14.399 (Grand Luxe)
4) Ref. 14.398 (Calendar Grand Luxe )

(Sorry for the bad picture quality- I am not good in that)

Could you try re-uploading the attachments? The first three may not have been finished uploading before the thread was posted

Edited the other 3 into the first post, they're gorgeous watches but that diamond one is definitely the pick of the litter, doesn't get much better than a factory diamond grand luxe

Thank you very much - actual the diamond Grand Luxe I bought some 3 or 4 years ago and it was the cheapest of all three it is also the most pristine as it has not been polished and has hardly any wear. It is one of my faforite watches besides the de Luxe and I would have worn it every day if I had not be too concered, thats why I bought some months ago the other nearly identical one, which has clear signs of wear and has been polished quite heavily (missing the stars) and now I am wearing this one.

I agree with you, but I am afraid this one does not pop up that often. I will try tomorow some wrist shots because its dark now and they dont caome that good with flash.
I can also send some pics from my de Luxe Seamasters (just the comon ones with hooded lugs).

Is it this one you want?

One of my favorite Connies...
enjoy! 😉

Erich
Yes! Erich that's exactly it! That example is simply stunning, the way the stepping catches and scatters the light like a diamond make it catch the eye like very few watches can.

If I could get it on a full brick bracelet that would be icing on the cake!

The Ultima in 18K? Or the gold-cap/stainless hooded lug Seamaster?

This is the ref. to be worn on a leather strap, a bracelet would not fit as the inner side of the hooded lugs is a bit different (straight and not "double-domed" to fit the bracelet).
I think the bracelet is a work of art and worth collecting but I think I would not wear the watch with bracelet as it is too much bling...
just my thoughts

Ah, that's interesting, I wasn't aware that there were differences in the lug design depending on whether or not it came with the bracelet, what is the exact reference of this one?

I know what you mean about it being a bit blingy, but compared to the average modern Breitling its still fairly sedated 😉

Dennis would wear it to church on Sunday lol

Yes, you've pointed out a subtle difference in the lug design - something I have observed in the past. I wondered about the lugs on mine when I first got it some years back and eventually came to this same conclusion.

As far as I recall it is a ref 2930 although Omega website shows it with a bracelet (I guess they took the same picture for both references) - watch is in the bank, I will look for the ref. next time and let you know.
kind regards

That way you can always pawn it if things are going against you...
Which reminds me, some of the biggest used rolex dealers in the world are the pawn shops in Macau. The trade in used watches there is apparently also used to circumvent some of China's strict currency restrictions (They buy expensive watches with debit cards and then trade them in for cash immediately with a cut of course to the shop. The transaction is also sometimes broken up into smaller amounts to skirt required reporting rules on transactions exceeding a certain amount).

Interesting you mention that, one of my brother's mates makes a living going back and forth from Macau to Australia with luxury goods, predominantly watches and big ticket handbags and jewellery. I've never really asked for specifics, always had a suspicion something dodgy was going on and left him alone.
