I didn't win it. I bid fairly low in light of the comments above. I'll keep my eye on the private sales here, as that's where I'd much prefer to buy from. I passed on a similar and very impressive one recently there because ideally I'd like the date as well, but I'll keep an open mind.
Anyway, it's fun hunting, I'm learning a bit more each time, and your advice is hugely appreciated.

I think, you were lucky not to win. The dial text was printed in smudged silver. Silver paint flows differently to white paint on these early models. If in doubt, go for the white printed text on these models. Kind regards. Achim

Thank you - maybe that explains my initial concerns about some of the letters looking imprecise. And that’s another thing added to my check list for the next prospective purchase!

I was watching it too and think it sold for all it's money and perhaps a bit more. €1130 + service + crystal + crown is probably going to end up somewhere between €1500 and €1600 and then you'd still end up with a watch with a very poor dial and a case that has seen a life.
