Hello, I came across this watch through a Facebook group and want to verify a few things before buying if anyone could assist me. I want to make sure that the dial is original, since I haven't been able to find this exact config online. He says it has been serviced last month. and wants $1800 shipped. any advice is much appreciated!

Welcome @Grey

This is the classic onyx-insert sunburst dial configuration and looks correct.

Gold cap is the least desirable of the case types and this one is quite soft.
(Cue @gbesq with the gold standard gold cap dogleg)

The earlier round beads BOR is very stretched and doglegs tend to look better with the later squarer beads version.

So, it all depends on what you are after - a sharp collector’s piece or a simple daily wearer.

yes, the seller claims that the watch is serviced and it is 167.005 but IMHO $1800 is significantly too high for this watch.

Thank you! I'd prefer a sharper watch, I want a watch to wear for my wedding and keep for a long time. I was wondering about price, good to know that you think it's too high, that's very helpful. I don't mind a gold cap piece if it can save me money over a solid gold. I'm just trying to find something under $2000 ideally. Also I'd prefer to buy from someone more reputable so I would only go this route if it was a really good price. I think I'll pass on this for now...

In that case I think you’re wise to pass on this watch.

BTW I have no issue with gold-cap constellations- but they shouldn’t be as expensive as a steel version.

if you have your heart set on a no-date dogleg they are less common than their date brethren and you may have to wait longer and pay a slight premium for one

If you aren’t set on a dogleg, there are multiple pie pan and dome dial constellation options for you to consider. ( which opens up your opportunities for finding a good watch at a decent price)

And since I have been cued, I'll enter from stage right and show you what a sharp gold capped dog leg case should look like:

Thank you. The thrill of the hunt is part of what attracts many of us to this hobby (or affliction, addiction, etc. as the case may be).

I recognise those photos OP and know the seller. I’ve bought from him before and he’s trustworthy and only sells original watches. However I agree with the other posters that this example is probably worth passing on at that price, and with the case in that condition. Knowing this seller he’ll have another come in again soon or something similar.

As stated by another poster the 167.005 is less common. Be aware that you can also search for the 14900 which is the same watch but from before they changed their numbering system (respectively the date version is 14902). There are some 14900s which miss the third line of text (officially certified) and these are still legit.

Hey thanks for letting me know about the seller, He was very responsive and seemed legit, I just didn't want to take chances without another opinion since I'm still new to learning about all these references! Great to know about the 14900, I'll add that to my searches. Thank you all so much for your help!
