Omega Constellation - all information is welcome!

Hello,
As new 'Omega-fan' I would like to read/receive more information about my watch.
In fact it's an old family watch that I start to use.
I think this is a gold-plated version? Is this normally water resistant?
As you can see, the strap is not original. Where should I buy a good Omega strap for this watch?
There are some scratches on the glass, should I replace it?
What should I have to for the maintenance and what would a check-up cost? (The calibre runs quite correctly but this watch wasn't used for more than 20 years.
I am not going to sell this watch, as I have just started to love i.
However, I would like to have an idea of its value.

Thanks in advance for the reactions!

Welcome! 😀

In fact it's an old family watch that I start to use.

Beautiful heritage! The dial looks lovely.

It’s definitely gold over steel - still gold-capped instead of gold-plated in that era, I think?

Is this normally water resistant?
It had a certain amount of water resistance when it was new. Since then, the gaskets have aged and it should stay well clear of any water now!

Where should I buy a good Omega strap for this watch?
If it must be a strap from Omega, you can check in with a boutique. Note that you can get beautiful straps in I’d say comparable quality for less.

There are some scratches on the glass, should I replace it?
As long as it’s not cracked there’s usually no need. A watchmaker can simply polish it.

What should I have to for the maintenance and what would a check-up cost?
Depends on your location and your choice of watchmaker. 150-700 €/$/£, depending on what quality and who you choose.

However, I would like to have an idea of its value.
An eBay search for sold items would be your best bet I’d say. Somewhere in the upper tripple digits I’d say, 600-800$/€/£ maybe?

Thanks for the reply & information. I’m from Belgium.
Watchmaker suggestions in the region of Antwerp/Brussels?
I think this watch is from +/- 1964?

Value: I take a look @ chrono24

It is probably a bit later and likely a ref. 168.010. Value will be around €800, give or take. Wonderful watch!

Another possibility is ref 168.018. Not always but some do have dauphine hands.

I‘m also leaning towards 168.018 given the flat dial.

When I,’google’ the ref 168.018, the hands of the watches have a different shape?
Strange but very interesting 😀

Yes most have the baton style but some have dauphine hands like yours. You find this same anomaly with the C cased Constellations as well. My theory would be the early ones got dauphine hands which later changed to baton style.

Welcome to the forums! Lovely watch. With regard to straps, lots of good makers around, and the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales are on their way! Hirsch and Rios1931 croc and alligator are my go-tos, and even better value on sale (WatchObsession.co.uk for example). I also like Delugs.com. Add on a vintage buckle and you're away laughing...
