Hi everyone,

First vintage watch 😀
I notice that the date changes almost precisely at midnight while the day takes more than an hour...
as for this moment its 1:07 am and I still see the Mon(day) during transition.
How long does it usually take for the day indicator to change?

Thanks a lot!

Hello and welcome to OF.
First of all, nice watch! I think it’s 168.029?
Looks like nice example. I was going to first ask who stays up to watch the day/date change, but I recall I was staring at my first vintage Omega well into the wee hours…..
I have a serviced cal 751 Constellation from 1967 and the day and date snap over almost instantly at midnight, so that’s what is supposed to happen. However I have other vintage watches that change a bit early or late, like yours. It is likely a minor fix at service, but I wouldn’t worry in meantime just have it checked at next service. I’m sure watchmakers here can explain what needs to be done
So welcome and stick around, you will likely add to your collection! Good hunting.

I think it's extremely normal for the day to change later on, as long as the transition starts before midnight and ends after, I don't find it an issue

Thank you!
I think that 168.029 is with the fluted bezel as far as I know, but I could be wrong 😀
Good to have a reference and an indication that it might need to be serviced, besides the day it is very very accurate.
I've also read here: https://www.kenrockwell.com/watches/omega/constellation.htm where it says "The date changes in about an hour, and the day changes twice over about two hours." so maybe it's actually common.

Cheers!
