I am interested in a constellation 168.005 and seeking views/advice as it would be my first vintage buy. I am buying to use but don’t want to be stung by making a bad buy. I’ve a bit of research and it looks right to my (untrained) eye, although I wonder if it’s a redial from the condition as it shows so little wear? The only other concern I have, is that the omega data base dates the 168.005 to 1962, but the SN dates the movement to 1966. Should that be a concern or deal breaker? Thanks in advance for any comments and assistance you can provide.
Hi and welcome here! Good looking watch, dial is original. Case looks good, do you have more pictures (complete movement for example)? 168.005 was introduced in 1962 but was still in produciton 1966 so no problem here. What is the asking price?
I have been following this one with interest. At the moment the price is okay but I suspect it will go much higher.
Hello @UKFalc its in my watch list too -this is a very nice watch -being sold by one of our members. @michael e It's nice enough that I was actually tempted to put it on the recommended thread. it's all correct and in good condition, lovely case, late cal 561 (nothing wrong with that), original buckle, -only negative is that the inner tray is missing from the box. you will wait quite some time to find another quite as nice as this. BTW we now know that these doglegs were produced into the early 70s and reprised in a slightly different form just before the mid 70s. Currently at £780 -definitely expect it to go higher
Good question. I like this place for reading pleasure really, and find myself not wanting to make money out of people who I consider friends with a common interest, that being said a lot of my customers have been people on here so it’s a odd one. I think many know to contact me for a deal and I would extend that to anyone on this forum if they see something they like as long as they are not a fellow dealer, I tend to want to make as much cash as I can out of other dealers , I rarely get favours or special prices from most of them I have always tried to give friendly prices to the people on here who have asked for a deal outside of eBay. My fees for last month were over £1500 but I consider eBay still to be a good shop window and want to get back to running more auctions as I used to like it. If a member here wins this I will take a bank/wire transfer so we can subtract the PP fees if they like. Cheers, Michael
I’m not sure I qualify as one the family as I only joined recently (after visiting since July/July 19), but I pulled the trigger on this last night. It will have pride of place as the first vintage in my watch box. Thanks to everyone on here for your help. It gave me the confidence to go ahead with the purchase
Nice!! You created the thread, you bought the watch!!! Wear it in good health!!! I think it could go higher....
