Hi folks,

Looking for some help from the Constellation connisuer that exist on this great site!

Im interested in this watch and seller thinks it is a 168.004. My only real questions are whether the hands and crown look original for this reference. Any help would be much appreciated!

I am not and expert so take my comments lightly but at least my thoughts will give you a bump to the top of the page

I dont think it is a 168.004 as I think these were hidden crown connies with a cal 561.

There was a Turler signed Connie sold here a while back and that was a 168.018 and this reminds me of that.

Sorry, 168.018 is the reference
don't see any red flags.

Hands look ok. crown is difficult to tell but looks fine to me, whats the price?

Asking $1850 USD. There was a 168.010 Meister signed that sold here on OF for 1650 EUR not long ago.

@Dan S Would love your input 😗

I am the farthest thing from a Constellation expert, but just shooting from the hip I don't see any problems with the hands. They seem to match the markers well. I wouldn't even want to guess about the crown. The dial is appealing IMO.

Not sure about the reference number but I think it's a very nice watch 👍

thats far too much for me.

Even dealer prices at Chrono24 are around 1500 USD so I think 1850 is a bit high

Wait for some feedback from @Peemacgee

From the fuzzy pics, it looks to be a nice watch. better pics required to be sure.
these references don’t attract the prices of 168.004s or .010s. (Yet)
And IMHO , Turler on the dial does not add any value (in fact others might disagree but in my eyes it reduces the value)
I would suggest it’s around $850 overpriced.

Hello @DRjre086
My first ever vintage Connie, recently purchased thank to the OF community help.
So am no expert on that matter but I do agree with you to say its 168.018 ref.
Below are photos of mine before service (pics are mine).
On a sidenote I do think the crown is original.
The watch you are interested is to me very disirable since its textured and branded dial.

Thanks for your input, I am curious (never owned a double signed watch) why does the Turler or Meister or any other devalue the watch?

I assume that @Peemacgee was saying that he doesn’t personally appreciate the double signature. From what I have seen, I don’t believe that the Turler name truly decreases the value, but it doesn’t really increase the value either, the way a Tiffany signature might.

I have an identical Türler-branded 168.018 that cost me about $500 about two years ago. Later, in a moment of weakness, I put it up for sale on eBay and the highest bid was significantly less than that, but the buyer backed out and I still have it. If you really want one and don't mind hunting a little, they're out there.

I hope you're not comparing my black dial 168010 with this one... Different ball game. 😁

It's a question of personal taste but from all the connies out there I would'nt choose this one. Especially for that price.

Yep, the point I was making is that, each to their own, but having a retail brand on watch spoils the dial and so devalues the watch for me.

Given that Turler and Meister mean very little outside of their country of origin it appears to be that highlighting a ‘double-signed dial’ was a marketing ploy by dealers to differentiate their vintage watches in order to increase desirability

- and unfortunately the watch community fell for it hook line and sinker.

Tiffany and Cartier have global appeal but, since I’m not bothered who retailed my watches, I still wouldn’t want their name plastered all over my watch dial.

For clarity, genuinely-branded watches don’t actually devalue the watch in the market place and some people actually like them.

This discussion severely lacks pictures 😀. Here‘s the black beauty.

It didn‘t jump on it because of the Meister brand, but it makes for a nice story as I‘m from Zurich where the retailer is based. But I wouldn‘t want to pay a premium for it. For me it was a nice add-on.
