That's one of the most amazing things I've seen in a long time. The micro machining and artistry involved is stunning! Bravo.

Helluva way to introduce yourself to the forum--welcome.

On your oven/heating machine, is that 700-900 F or C?

Hi woodwkr2. That's C temperature. Thanks

That's really impressive, can't imagine getting a better job done on a degraded Cloisonne

brilliant ! had your address bookmarked before. shlomo avshalom gave that to me a while ago. this is exactly the kind of high grade craftsmanship, that is slowly disappearing..... everybody wants white collar computer jobs; no dirty hands, please ! sometimes I wish, the world wide web would collapse for a few days. the suicide rate would skyrocket, I guess. people would have to look the fellow human being in the eyes again; not staring at little screens. talk to each other? not only exchange computer data .... what an experience!
but back to the dials: again, very ,very impressive work. kind regards. joachim

Course without the internet and this forum, 99.9% of us would have never seen that video, nor known how a cloisonne dial was made, much less have the contact information for the gentleman and artist responsible for the work in case we should ever need to enlist his services.

I agree with the luddite spirit of your comments though. A little more face-to-face and eye-to-eye would do our world a lot of good.

Totally agree, that dial was totally trashed! To bring it back from the brink like that is really admirable.

If I only have one criticism it would be the Omega print looks too thick compared to the original.

I´m very curious to know how many man hours does a restoration like that take?

This is why one has to be a jeweler at craft and an mechanic at heart, to truly appreciate the beauty of a watch and the hard-work that goes into these tiny little contraptions 😀.
Really beautiful work and hats off to you GavDials for maintaining this art 😀
