I'm selling an Omega Chronostop 'Driver' watch. This is quite a rare watch being the 'driver' model. The watch face is 90 degrees out as the watch was designed to be worn under the wrist making it easy to read whilst driving. It was aimed to attract the younger generations of Omega owners. This particular watch was originally sold in West Bromwich in 1968 as stated on the original guarantee booklet. The watch also has the original instruction manual and booklet 'you and your Omega', all in the original red plastic wallet. The serial no matches the no inscribed onto the movement and model no inscribed in the back of the case back. The watch is also incased in the original box which is in excellent condition for its age, this watch has been looked after for the last 45 years!

The watch has a grey/black 'dished' dial with silver baton markers and is inscribed Omega Chronostop, Geneve, T swiss made T, at 6 O'Clock. The dial is in a very good condition with some luminescence missing at 12 O'clock and to the batons, this could be relumed, but I prefer to keep the watch original and untouched. It has the original crown with omega emblem and pusher. To the case back it is inscribed 'waterproof tested 30m'. The stainless steel case has a few dings and marks, but nothing to detract from the overall look of the watch, it is very clean for a watch of this vintage. The plexiglass crystal is in excellent condition, still having the omega symbol to the centre, these are all to often lost due to over polishing of the crystal. The strap is the only non-original aspect of the watch, but is a high quality calfskin replacement of 'crazed' black leather, very suited to the age of the watch.

The red second hand is the timing function of this watch. On depressing the pusher the second hand will start timing, on depressing the pusher again and holding it in, the second hand will stop and can be read. Upon releasing the pusher the second hand resets back to 0. The function isn't that useful as it only records seconds! however thats what makes the watch so appealing! I imagine it could have been for recording 0-60 times of cars as tenths of a second probably weren't that important in the 60s! Doctors soon became aware though of the usefulness of a watch that can be worn inside the wrist, perfect for timing someones pulse! The watch is keeping very accurate time and from the cleanliness of the face/movement looks as if it has been serviced recently. It is manually wound.

This is a rare watch, the associated documentation with this watch makes it very desirable, its rare to find documentation in such good condition for the age of the watch and its lovely to see such a complete package. This watch needs to go to a good home!

I'd like £580 GBP plus postage for the watch. I'd prefer direct bank transfer, but would accept paypal.

Thanks for looking...
