A little lower usually - but sometimes the French made cases had more gold in them. This particular instance I don't think there's much of a difference.

Just claim 'dibs' like the rest of us. 馃槣
And I'll put second Dibs.........

I don't think its automatic that a french market watch has a French-made case, which is what the value issue is about. I don't think the "fab. Suisse" in and of itself alters value . When you get your eyes on it, look for hallmarks. Swiss 18K hallmark is the woman's head (Helvetia). The French hallmark is an eagle's head, as shown here on a Longines case

If its got the French case, it does tend to get "marked down" by collectors, although not clear to me why other than Swiss-centric chauvinism. As far as I know, the French never got up to the gold-content shenanigans the South Americans did in watch cases.

Thanks louS, I had a look and held it in my hands today. It's not an eagle but it was super small and had engravings on the side of the case and one of the lugs I think....The central part of the dial has a light patina, Is this advisable to leave or can it be re lacquered professionally? It's barely noticeable unless you hold it up to the light..the outer chapter ring is very clean and shiny in real life though...The lugs are less chiseled, but I think they are supposed to be quite smooth as in other examples....I'll be picking it up in a weeks time so will have to do more posts then! 馃ぉ

As to the dial - leave well enough alone. A lesson I cannot stress enough and have learned the hard way.

its more like a very light smudge near 9.. But really faint. I held it up to the light as it was the one sunny day we've had all week! I read Desmond's article and he said its quite common that the centre dial ages especially the lacquer...oh, forgot to mention it comes silvers omega box too 馃榿

Oh my! 馃槑

I think you got a winner there. I noticed earlier that it also has an original looking buckle.

But I'm sure it cost you plenty.

Looking forward to seeing all the pictures.

Picked up the Centenary today:

Whilst I am over the moon with the watch I will have to take it to see the watch guy as little particles of dust matter have been resting on the dial. The dial is in good vintage condition with some light patina.

I think the buckle is pink gold with "swiss plaque g" and some other script but it doesn't have the 18k stamp.

The box probably didn't belong to the watch, but it's a fair addition.

I'll add these few pictures until I get some with the dial clean.

Came on an Omega strap too which will hopefully add to the value, who knows..It really feels good on the wrist and it's a perfect size for my branch like wrists.

I am just going to sit back, relax and enjoy my collection now. Maybe move a few pieces I have gotten bored with! 馃

I think the Silver box would be good to store Cubans, so it was a timely investment!

I like that the dial is showing some age. I wouldn't want much more that that though, but it's had a life..

Now I've had the chance to see it, properly, it has a stamp on the caseback, and one lug, and the side of a lug, can't make head nor tail of it though!

Thanks for looking

Thanks Kyle - You're on! 馃槈 Do you have any strap recommendations? Can't do Keleran as they don't ship to the UK.

Nice find - case looks like it might be rose gold. Box is original to the watch and is valuable in its own right. Dial looks to be in pretty decent shape.

I think De Beers are good, but I think I gotta go all Croco or Alligator this time...Too much lizard on my other watches. I blame you. 馃槈

Alex - if you want to sell the box PM me. Seriously, that's worth a few hundred bucks.

"Plaque" means plated.
