Kind of confusing at first to me all the Swiss Made/Swiss/Fab Suisse/ T Swiss etc markings.
This from another forum confirms what @John R Smith said in an earlier post : Most of them will say it (Swiss Made) Some (particularly US & UK imports) might just say "Swiss", since some parts. like dials or cases were made in the US to save on customs duty.
The Fab Suisse I gather is a marking for imports into France ...
And to follow up on @TNTwatch .... so perhaps it was originally a US import case and dial and then has been modded over time with replacement hands .... and maybe a refinished dial at some point with new Seamaster script????? Or is it possible the colour of the script changed as a result of a cleaning at some point?
Haha gotta like the detective work.

Hello hello.
To me, everything looks correct except that gold chapter ring and the sweep second hand.
That Seamaster font is correct for a 2577 (I own one, picture below).
That chapter ring looks like it was printed later and if you look carefully it is not centered perfectly and too new to the rest of the dial.

That SWISS may be printed at the same time with the chapter ring.

Indeed, the chapter ring looks much newer, so does the word Swiss, which also appears to be on a straight line rather than supposedly concentric.

Dang. The watchmaker I contacted just got back to me and gave me some good feedback and said he was excited to do some work on this watch feeling it was well worth it. Right in his wheelhouse and he had a case to replace the worn one. Gave me some prices that I was happy with. When I looked earlier this morning the watch was still available and wouldn't you know it ..... I go back after chatting with him ....... and it's gone. Rats.

Hey. I've learned a ton. My first real experience looking into a vintage and with lots of help and info from the forum members, hours and hours on the web looking .... Comparing, developing a better eye, thanks to the comments here, I'm better off. And also finding a watchmaker right here where I live who can do what has been suggested. I've got a much better handle on what's possible, what's of value etc. I guess, had I known what I know now and knew what the watchmaker could do ... I could have pounced on it soon enough. At least for the next time I'll be a little better informed. I love the research.
This is nothing so many of you don't already know, but it's my thanks to the forum for the learning experience. And I'm sure it will continue.

As you say you have gained a great deal of experience. And you have avoided the first big hit of what we call Noob Tax - because if you had purchased this watch and done all the work needed, you would have spent far more on it than you would ever have got back.

HEres a reply on that watch from a pretty experienced vintage watch collector and watchmaker in Toronto.

The dial seems to be very original to me. I have seen original finish having the word Omega in
gold and Seamaster in white. My concern is the minute track and the word
SWISS. They are a much darker and brighter tone compare to the words
Omega Automatic. If it is a later add on, it is very well done. Why a
later add on? It could be the original minute track have faded away and
the Swiss been rubbed away. But I maybe wrong. The hands, I believe they
are later replacement of the proper hands except for the second hand.
That's one thing bad about gold cap case, the gold on the edge usually
wear off over the years. However, gold cap is better than gold filled
case. Gold filled once it is worn, you'll see corrosion and eventually
see a hole on your watch. But if the watch had a caring owner, no matter
how many decades have gone by it will still be in excellent condition.

Nothing really new, but just thought I'd post it anyway for confirmation.

So .... one is the white Seamaster font. Which may or may not have been added AND the hands ..... which I like much better on yours .... . @X350 XJR Good sleuthing!!! You figure the one in my OP has been put together from different models? Still a nice dial though. I like the extra bit of space between the markers and the minute ring.
