I got the Omega branded Fisher pen, along with the gold pin, when I got my watch, it was in the shipping box. And I got champagne and some other knick knacks when I ordered the watch in March. There is one of these Omega pens on eBay for $300 starting bid!! That's insane. And the pins are like $80+, crazy.

Do AD's have swag to give out or is that mainly confined to the boutiques?

Depends on the AD probably, as well as the Boutique. The Boutique I go to doesn't give anything out, except maybe some leftover promo materials from a few years back (for instance, got a Spectre pen with my Ultraman last year)

It’s a nice watch the Hulk!!

Well it seems I am too much into Rolex, tried the Speedy Apollo 11 50th but I don’t seem to be into it that much.. something about the bracelet and the fact that I have to wind it every two days, don’t know but I think I might need to let it go and use the funds for another purchase, maybe something more modern

It's certainly an option, dealer prices are softening at the moment, but a $1600-$2000 profit is still easily reachable.

I don’t care much about making money to be honest, even thinking of keeping it but then again if not wearing it what’s the point.. I liked the moonphase Speedy with leather strap at the Omega Boutique

No worries, I wish I was in the position of not caring about making money. But back on the watch the manual winding is a pain, the dial is a bit marmite and there are other Speedmasters that are nicer and have automatic movements and that all important higher WR rating.

Well I don’t mind about the WR rating, the other speedies tend to get thicker and that’s why I was hoping that this one would be the best for me.. and there was no chance to try it out or even see it before getting it and spend time with it.. anyway, some we like some we don’t, pretty much the case with everything

Yep! where would we be if we all like the same thing. My preferred variation of the Speedmaster may not be everyone's choice, but I've not yet seen anything else I would choose over it.

With all the hoopla around this watch you should give it more time. I've been wearing mine fairly steady for the last month, there are plusses and minuses to it. I like the use of gold (very subtle, but rich looking), like the black/grey dial, love the thin new bracelet, big improvement in accuracy with the new movement. A negative is the 9 o'clock subdial, I just don't believe it was necessary. It's not a deal killer for me like it is for other people, but I look at the dial and think how much cleaner it would have been without the image. But it is what it is. Is it worth $10.5k (with taxes) to have in the collection......yes for now. Long term......not sure. But way too soon to make that judgment.

Yes absolutely right, I paid the same figure (taxes inclusive) and wonder about the same, will try and give the watch some wrist time and see how it goes, thanks

Really like the idea of adding one of these to the collection, however I'm somewhat bemused by the bracelet that comes with the 50th anniversary. Anyone know is it based upon any particular model? Will have to try and see one in reality perhaps before making a decision.

It's based on the flat-link stretch bracelets of the 1960s such as the 1506 and 1039. IMO the bracelet is no reason not to buy a watch though... you can always change it out for a strap of your choice...
