The purpose of a company is to make money for its owners or shareholders. If 6969 people are willing to pay $9-10k for this watch it is not artificially pushed up.

You misunderstood something. Meant are the ones who artificially screw up the price. That the companies have to make a profit is clear. But that gamers have to make a profit is just wrong.
But unfortunately not only at Omega.

People are not screwing up the price, the market determines the price. I understand what you are saying, but it is impossible to try to impose some sort of price control on an object, all it does is make it more expensive in the long run. Omega tried to restrain some of the flipping by requiring buyers to pay for the piece in advance and maybe it has had some effect, but if someone really wants one of these pieces he can find one. He may have to pay a premium now, or he can wait if he thinks the price will come back down. I just can't get excited about what people want to charge for their own property. If you want to get upset at someone look to the ADs who short circuit the distribution chain and sell them to the flippers at a premium price, but overall I don't think that many Apollo 11's are being flipped, most are going to owners who will keep them and wear them. I've got mine on the wrist right now.

As a separate tidbit I go to an ophthalmologist in Houston once a month for a specialized eye treatment. I found out from one of my other doctors that he is a world known leader and researcher in specific areas of eye disease. Last Friday I was wearing an Apollo 11 t-shirt and he came in and said 'nice shirt' and he mentioned that he does the pre- and post-flight eye examinations on the astronauts at Johnson Space Center, and even after all these years they are still learning what the effects of space travel has on the human eye. It's a very complicated health problem.

I just got the Apollo 11 bracelet fitted to my Silver Snoopy, and it’s amazing. It worked using 19mm spring bars. Ω SKU 068ST2107 to be exact.

Interested to see the long term integrity of this. 19mm bars scare me honestly, especially on such a valuable watch. Have you tested it by tugging on the ends to see if the bars hold or pop out?

Not only shorter, but also using a thinner spring bar. The 2107's are 1.5 mm diameter, instead of the 1.8 mm of the 2207's...

IMO not a good idea, and it doesn't appear to fit all that well to be honest. There's certainly some risk on doing this.

Cheers, Al

Ah - this is why the bracelet fits despite the lip/tab. So a 1.5mm diameter 20mm spring bar should work, but would still be a bit too flimsy for me to feel secure about doing this.

Still waiting to see how that guy who was gonna machine the lip off manages...

Yep no issues. I’ve had 19mm spring bars on 20mm bracelets before and no problems. I probably wouldn’t play tennis with it though!

Nice. This looks better than the original black strap. I am due to get an A11 50th and also have a Snoopy award. What’s the chance of me being able to get a second A11 bracelet that I could permanently put on my snoopy?
Just ask your boutique and hopefully they can order one for you.

Just wanted you to be aware of the risks, that's all. To be honest if you smash it with a hammer it's fine with me...hey it's your watch!

Haha I have no plans to smash it with a hammer!

As long as that 'lip' on the new bracelet is there it will never fit properly. Will it probably be 'ok' with a thinner, shorter spring bar? Maybe, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with it that way, it just doesn't fit right. Hopefully the guy who has ordered one and is willing to shave off the lip will have good success with the modification.

I find it very stiff initially to wind, but after a number of use, it became much easier

That's interesting...my experience was different. I find the A11 50th to be much smoother winding than my A11 40th, which is still stiff, even after all these years.

Anyone still waiting on their allocation?

There are still people waiting as my dealer mentioned yesterday that they received another allocation of 8 watches, he's not sure at this stage that the people who reserved them will all come forward to collect.

No longer on the waiting list as my 59xx numbered piece arrived last week. Unfortunately due to being in Singapore for the Grand Prix I had to wait until yesterday for the AD to send it to me.

My AD gave me the full price complete with full taxes to be paid, not one penny nor cent less than the MSRP. No pen, no pin, no penny. Do I sound jealous?
