Yikes, WTH happened? That clasp really took a hit. Looks like it had a run in with a grinding wheel, and lost.
Nah, just dipping a toe in the water. Scraping up a clasp is nothing. It's when you ding the edge of the bezel, etc. that you will stop worrying.
That’s why I choose ceramic which is ding free, scratch free (no I don’t drop my watches).. of course so dear and painful to bear to some of us, but then the vintage collectors will laugh when they read about these dings and dongs
The shoe of a camera flash mount. Metal vs. metal. It's actually not *too* bad and the pain is fading. But yeah, this is why I usually like to take my watches off the bracelets and put them on straps.
Collected mine Monday and worn daily, still not battered it yet. Also no one has commented on it which I’m not bothered about but would like someone to notice it !!
Yah, I have a Super hardcore Rolex fanboy friend (buys nothing except Rolexes) who has been pestering me every day about it to wear it to the office since I received the watch last week
Still on the fence on my 2nd one, just not feeling the love for it and prefer my Speedmaster Co-axial titanium.
[ In the 2 weeks Ive had the watch Ive had one guy come up to me at Duxford Air museum and directly ask me if it was the 50th apollo. That was great as he knew exactly what it was an we had a short conversation talking about what he had etc. The second time I spoke to someone about the watch was a little more awkward. It was in an art gallery and I made a quip about maybe id buy art if I "didn't keep spending money on watches" This was me fishing to see if he was a watch fan and he looked at my Apollo 11 50th and the conversation went like.. him "So whats special about it?" me "Well, its the watch that went to the moon, but an anniversary version" him "oh not the actual watch then?" me "well, no but the same one that.." him "ahh so a replica?" me "well not really its still in production since.." him "so a copy eh?" etc etc him "why is it so expensive for a just a copy?" me: "......" him slowly realising he just doesn't get it and backing away "well good on you for wearing it"
Very opposite to how I acted at the office when I got it, I flaunted it like a peacock (outside I'm covering it), must say they knew I was going for this one long before it was released.
I don't flaunt a watch but I'm never concerned that somebody might think I'm showing off. It's my watch and I'll wear it when and where I want. They are almost never noticed by the general public which is fine, but if someone would notice it that's ok too. Watches are made to be worn.
I just showed mine to the salesman who sold me my last car, as he's always asking me about watches. He went round the showroom with it, showing the rest of the sales staff. Now he wants to be notified of any more Omega LE releases.
Apparently when I was talking to my OB as I was picking up the A11 50th, I was told that they are not going with the Snoopy theme this time around...... Curious to see what they're coming up with instead... Also, sidebar, the 321 is supposedly coming out with a SS version in 2020....If so, that's the next purchase if there's enough to allocate for the year...
