I'm not sure how it's meant to be worn (unlike with the two Speedy Tuesday models, there is no extra little booklet explaining how to mount the straps) but the cork strap is very fussy and not particularly comfortable. It's, shall we say, rather underwhelming for a milestone of this importance and especially for a package with this MSRP.

In my opinion, the design of the steel bracelet is so perfect that I would always wear the watch with it. For a different look, a black pig skin leather or a honey shell cordovan (see www.atelier-romane.com, they have nice ones in different lengths) could be nice as well. But certainly not, this ugly cork strap.

Agreed - the cork strap doesn’t look the best. I’m surprised at this price point they didn’t chuck in a nato and a leather strap as they have done with the 1948 etc.

I'm with you on the cork strap, I mentioned that it was to be included and some eyebrows were raised at the time, but they really shouldn't have bothered as it's looks like a poor, cheap version of a distressed strap from a parts bin.

Isn't the cork strap a throwback to something that was on the original watches? More of a tribute perhaps?

No, it's a new gimmick. Cork was never used as a Speedmaster watchstrap.

Quite like it, like a faux patina for straps. With the gold flecks it suits the watch.

Straps are the huge money maker on the instagram generation. Many swap straps like I do underpants ( I change a strap on a Speedy it’s a month at least )

I can see why the Speedy Tuesday,s came out with them. ( Marketing 101 )

Seem to recall it was a nod to thermal insulation used in the command module for reentry. If that's correct, it really is a stretch to rationalise creating a cork strap for the A11 50th based on such a limited association. Would have been just as valid to "sell" a strap made from woven electrical wiring.

For those in the US waiting on deliveries, I received some information yesterday that the watches are being shipped out in bundles of two to the boutiques. This was verified by two different boutiques and matches up with what other customers have been told. So, if you are one of the lucky first two at your OB then you should be getting your watch any day now. From the third on down it could be a while. I'm supposedly number 9 at my OB and I was told "probably" next month. Anyway, it looks like the only thing known for sure is they definitely wont be distributing all the orders, as some had speculated, by July 20th. Bummer.

I wonder if Speedy Tuesday will appear on the 50th anniversary of the launch. Tomorrow.

321 blast off would certainly be a good and relevant launch for a 321 based re edition - no pun intended.

Now that is a cool idea!

Makes sense, that way each OB can say to the folks waiting for their watch that "watches are coming through but your's isn't here yet. So just be patient.".

I thought it was crazy to believe that Omega was going to mass deliver 7,000 watches over a couple of weeks with D-Day style preparation. There are no General Eisenhowers running things at Omega. I believe their goal will be to finish delivery by the end of November, before the Christmas rush begins. I'm ok with that.

That is what I was informed of as well this weekend at my OB. As of Friday, only the West and Central Region OBs had gotten deliveries, East Region was a bit lagged for some reason - though I am sure they quickly made up for that.

Yup, this is what my OB has told me. 2 coming in this month.

@abrod520 thanks for the detailed images.

I don’t think that plate has anything to do with attaching the center link of the main bracelet as that just connects to the left and right drilled tabs on the main/outer part of the end link. It seems to be little more than a gap filling plate, a bit like those things some folks use on Rolex watches fitted with a strap.

Take a look at the photo from @Pepe Lucas just above yours and the function becomes clear.

I‘d better not buy this because the temptation to unscrew that sucker would be too great for me to resist (must be an engineer thing :whipped:).

The bit that screws in is attached to the center link though, but not the rest of the end link. It's also recessed, so it doesn't contact the case at all - it has nothing to do with fitment. I think if you tried unscrewing it in a bid to attach it to a standard Speedmaster, you'd be disappointed...

Re the bracelet. I wonder if fitting it to a std watch is simply a case of using different end links?

It had occurred to me, but you'd have to find end links that accepted the center link of the bracelet. Given the lengths Omega went to to ensure that this bracelet doesn't fit the regular Speedmaster as-is, I'll bet there aren't any currently available end links that will fit the bracelet.

I always thought the Velcro part is supposed to be on the outside, pictures helped me in my decision to just order the spv1.5 at gasgasbones.

The entire inside of the cork strap is Velcro, so unless you want to wear the cork on the inside, you have to figure out how to cinch the Velcro inside your wrist - at least as far as I've been able to figure out. It's not a very attractive strap IMO though so I won't be making many more attempts.

Totally agree - for $10k, this package should have included a(t least one) very nice leather strap and a NATO in addition to the cork. I also think that the bracelet, as nice as it is, really should have had an adjustable clasp extension at this price point. Frankly, the standard Moonwatch kit has more going on than this one, for just a little bit more than half the price.

Yep, the lack of adjustable bracelet or at least more adjustment than 2 holes is fairly poor at this price point. I wonder what the internal discussion must have been as I’m sure someone must have raised this and someone must have said no.....

It’s not a deal breaker, but when they offer this on other speedies such as 60th and Apollo 17 45th it does seem a bit mean
