Not to hijack this thread and I will stop after this but this is the one I was looking at https://www.chrono24.com/sg/omega/s...001--id11641730.htm?SETLANG=en_SG&SETCURR=SGD
Ryan is well known for offering bargains on Omega watches on TZ-UK. Not sure how he does it but he has a good relationship with an AD in the UK. I wouldn't assume that his price for this watch is going to be the price that anyone else will pick one up for.
I picked up my SS 50th Anniversary yesterday. I can only say that not even Omega's HR videos and photos do it justice to what it looks like in person. My wife is so thrilled with it that she will be fighting me for wrist time.
Quite possibly but I offered it as a genuine datapoint, lest we go down the road of Taz pump and dump bullshit once more and pipe dream suggestions of value are left unchallenged.
He offered it at the price he negotiated with the AD as a favour to other forum members as is often the case so it wasn't a true secondary market sale. He simply stood aside and let someone have the slot
The screw-in part seems to be the way the center link is attached. Not sure why it was designed like this, maybe they couldn't cast this complicated a shape? The lip however is on the main “body” of the end link so would not be able to be unscrewed.
I'm not sure how it's meant to be worn (unlike with the two Speedy Tuesday models, there is no extra little booklet explaining how to mount the straps) but the cork strap is very fussy and not particularly comfortable. It's, shall we say, rather underwhelming for a milestone of this importance and especially for a package with this MSRP.
Thank you for the visual! I was trying to decide for myself if I wanted it on the cork or keep it on the bracelet!
I'm sure the cork strap will loosen up and become more flexible as it is worn, but like most 'extra' straps in these limited edition watches it really isn't going to be the first choice for most owners....it's an expected extra to help justify the high price.
@abrod520 thanks for the detailed images. I don’t think that plate has anything to do with attaching the center link of the main bracelet as that just connects to the left and right drilled tabs on the main/outer part of the end link. It seems to be little more than a gap filling plate, a bit like those things some folks use on Rolex watches fitted with a strap. Take a look at the photo from @Pepe Lucas just above yours and the function becomes clear. I‘d better not buy this because the temptation to unscrew that sucker would be too great for me to resist (must be an engineer thing ).
Re the bracelet. I wonder if fitting it to a std watch is simply a case of using different end links?
I always thought the Velcro part is supposed to be on the outside, pictures helped me in my decision to just order the spv1.5 at gasgasbones.
