Two SS 5oth anniversary have arrived at the St. Louis Boutique yesterday.
That's good to hear, but I guess neither one was earmarked for me as I have received no call from Donna, the manager. But at least it's happening!

The one with the 3 planets? That was available at a discount for years! It’s probably still in stock at a dealer somewhere. Asking prices and prices achieved can vary significantly...

There's a very nice pre-owned example close to where I live, boxed and papers, asking price is £5450 but it has been in the window for several months with no takers.

and the originals from 1969 that I have kept to this day

and the picture of Buzz that I put on my wall as a kid that inspired me to become an aerospace research engineer 18 years later

the sticky tape I used is still attached to the corners.

Been lurking watching all the comments for some time. Just picked mine up. Looks way better in person than the pictures!

Congrats

It certainly does look better on the wrist. Have had mine on since last Thursday and will do all the way through the moon landing anniversary 📖😁

Thank you! It is really nice. Moonshine gold is very subtle. Bracelet is amazing. And packaging is fun. It will stay on the wrist all of this month to commemorate the historic event!!

My watch finally arrived this morning. Sooo stoked!!!

Everything I’ve read so far about how gorgeous this piece looks in person is true! Absolutely stunning! What surprised me the most was how good the bracelet looked and how well it goes with this watch. I’m not big into having the perfect bracelet TBH but wow, this bracelet with this anniversary edition really IS a perfect combination.

Including a few pics here to share. For anyone curious, I picked it up from my OB in Vancouver, Canada. Piece 7XX /6969

Got the call, took the drive.

Better on the wrist for sure, but I think I need to wear it for a while before I arrive at a conclusive opinion. One thing’s for sure though - this sapphire crystal has a MUCH better profile than the one on the XI 45th. Still has a milky ring, but looks and feels more like hesalite.

Oh and for those of you still wondering about the bracelet, it does not fit the standard Speedmaster. There’s a little notch in the case between the lugs and a little lip on the end link.

So if the lip/protruding piece on the bracelet end link is machined flat to match the curve on the top part of the bracelet end link it will fit, right?

Edit: Do the pin holes in the lugs match the same position on the standard Speedy?

Maybe / leaning towards probably. You try it 😜

I think so, I tried it on my Ultraman and I think if it weren't for the lip, it'd have fit.

Be careful here, if you take off the lip on the bracelet what is going to support the bracelet on the generic case? There are no wing tabs on the new bracelet like there are on the standard bracelet. Seems to me it is going to flop up and down as nothing is supporting the end links. I don't think it is an easy fit at all.

And who is brave enough to machine that lip off the new bracelet to see if it will work? Any volunteers? If it doesn't work you have ruined the bracelet as it will not fit properly on the Apollo 11 case, you'll have the same problem, a bracelet that isn't supported by anything other than two thin spring bars.

Can somebody post a photo with the cork bracelet? I still haven't seen any good photos of it. Thank you ahead of time! Congrats to you all...I'm still waiting for my phone call! 🍿

Could you please show us some more photos of that end link from the other side and end-on. I can see where the main lip fits, but I don’t understand the purpose of that tabbed screw-in part.

Resale price for a piece has now been reserved for ~ US$16k, and I don’t think this is the ceiling.

Really? And you know it sold for that? Someone (Ryan) on TZ-UK offered his last week at £250 under the RRP. I believe it sold. Granted that was perhaps a special case but do try to keep the speculation grounded.
