Hi

Sorry for hijacking your thread, but it was this thread that pushed me over the edge. I've wanted a panda for a long time. I was looking for the Autavia, but I don't think I'm ready for a vintage Heuer, yet, same with my wallet...

So I contacted Archer and ordered the dial, hands and case from him. Great service from Al, answers quickly to all my questions, great guy!

The movement was taken from a sorry looking but cheap 1970 Mark II, imported from Argentina 馃槻 But the movement turned out to be good. The chronograph wheel was damaged so I replaced it. Some small adjustments to the pushers and the stem and in the case it went.

So here it is in all it's glory. Have never gotten so many comments from friends and colleagues before, my wife loves it and so do I. Couldn't have been more satisfied!

I went with the original steel hands. Very hard to photograph as they black out in certain angles. But I wanted those, looks over function I'm afraid. I was sort of expecting the dial to be more white, but it's actually more like silver, really stands out.

Again, thanks Al for the fantastic service!

cheers,
Ketil

Thanks guys, I'm really happy with the result and it made it a hell of a lot more fun having you all along for the ride; It would have been a LOT harder to achieve without this forum! 馃槑

ketiljo - glad that this forum/thread was able to inspire and help you out - great result! 馃榾

The only thing I'm looking for now is an alternative strap (don't think dark brown suits it as well as black might), and maybe a Pulsometric bezel to distinguish it against my other Speedmaster Pro... Anyone know if that would fit the Sapphire case?

How did you find Joao re quality, time, cost?

Joao is great - he's been described as a "watchmaker's watchmaker" for good reason, he did an amazing job. It wasn't cheap, and it took some time but it was a very big job! I don't think he took to me initially (I think he thought I was just some young, cocky guy) but after he realised I really had a passion for the work he was doing for me we had a good solid chat about all things watches and watchmaking (I got some tools/supplies from him at the same time) and he even offered advice for some of my hobby watchmaking if I need it - really nice guy.

I'm knew I recognised the face, I was the bloke in the green shirt with a Gemini IV and a 145.012-67 I'm sure we spoke at some point
