😕Correct me if a m wrong, but that is no Speedmaster Professional case, right? Will the Speedy dials fit in there?
Additonally i would love to know what kind of watch this is? The dial has no subdial at the 6 o clock position, but still there is a
861 inside?! 😕

Looks like a Tissot case to me.

I really like the all silver setup with the traditional chrono seconds hand:

I think the straight chrono hand goes better with alpha hands, that can be also sourced from the FOIS, but I´m not sure if they would match here.

The problem with silver hands is that depending on the light, you can get this "not visible hands effect" on the subdials...

I have a set of FOIS main hands on the way for my panda dial, hopefully they will look good and something a bit different from the straight silver hands.

Looking forward to see pictures when finished, please.
Many times we imagine things won´t match until we see them assembled.👍

Correct - Sorry if I wasn't clear in the intro!

I'm looking to put the old movement into a brand new Speedmaster Professional case, with all the aesthetic stuff being brand new. I think that the person that sold me the movement was trying to make the deal more attractive by putting it into this case. Strange thing to do considering that you would assume that the people in the market for an Omega 861 movement would be able to see right through it!

I'm basically going to throw the case and dial into the bin 😀

Thanks for the input Ivan, I think you're right - I might go with the traditional chrono seconds hand, but I still like the contrast of the white hands on the black background on the register dials 😀

Exciting delivery arrived today!

I've spared no expense and gone with the full Sapphire Case (with clear case-back). I've also received my dial (black and white "panda" dial), hands (silver for the large hands, white for the small register hands) and enlargement ring.

Needless to say I was too excited not to open up a few things and have a look!

Thanks again to Archer for the amazing service and help with these parts! If anyone needs Omega parts or service look him up! He goes way beyond the call of duty to help out and has offered a lot of assistance with this project!

Interesting.

what about the movement ring, do you have it? I think I spotted it in the photo.

i think a thicker ring is required, something that thwarted me for a while when I built one up in a similar case!

Proper name is the "enlargement ring" and yes a specific one is needed for the sapphire case back, which he has.

Cheers, Al

Hi Spacefruit, I was actually reading a thread on another site that you wrote about that exact subject last night while I was surfing the web!

I did a LOT of research into the parts of the case and the movement so I knew about the different sized enlargement ring, Archer also helped me with the process to make sure I got everything I needed. The larger enlargement ring takes up the additional space that is left by the absence of the dust cover (which is used in conjunction with the standard caseback).

I really love how the parts on the Speedmasters are so easily interchangeable - it makes for such an interesting array of different watches out there in the hands of collectors 😀

Well, it's not quite ready... Unfortunately I forgot to give my watchmaker the movement spacer ring (it must have slipped out of the envelope I had), which has put us behind schedule a bit.

BUT the movement has now been completely restored; just needs to be adjusted and fitted into the case, pressure testing etc. I dropped by to give my watchmaker the spacer ring and asked to take a couple of progress pics... enjoy! 😀
