Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that the lug to lug distance of the new 3861 Speedy is slightly shorter than the old 1861. That and the new tapered bracelet should help those like me who have a smaller wrist size.
Yes, shorter by a tiny bit. Less than 1mm, I think. It also sits a little bit closer to the wrist. Overall a more compact appearance.

Additionally, the lug end links don't protrude, so making it even more compact.

Does anyone know what is the minimum size that the bracelet can fit on the new bracelet? I have a tiny wrist and had to remove all the links on the 1861 speedmaster. Would removing all the links on the 3861 bracelet accommodate the same size?

My wrist is about 6.5-6.75 inches (~165-170mm), and I have 7 total removable links on my 3861 hesalite. The fit ranges from slightly loose but not falling down my wrist to comfortably snug.

The links look like they are 5-6mm long. If you removed them all, I would guess it could get down to about 5-5.25 inches (125-135mm)? Maybe 4.75? Just a rough estimate. The hesalite and sapphire versions might differ slightly due to the different casebacks, but probably not much.

Thank you! So it would be safe to say that someone with 14.5-15 can wrist would be able to fit yes? That’s great

My wrist is ~6.25" and it's one of my most comfortable timepieces. My wrist is fairly oval though, which is quite helpful.

It's interesting that there are two types of people. Those with 6.5" wrists claiming they can't wear anything smaller than 44mm and those with 7"+ wrists trying to understand whether speedmaster is not too big 😀

Speedmaster is one of those watches that is so well proportionate that it fits all wrists.

I remember in early '00 Omega changed way they measure case sizes and Speedmaster suddenly went from 39mm to 42mm. To me it wears closer to 40mm than 42mm.

Took me awhile to find these pics on my phone, but I think this is a good illustration how pictures can be misleading about how a watch "wears" on your wrist.

Same watch, same wrist, taken 2 months apart (no significant change in body mass)...for some reason I feel like the case looks as big or bigger than my wrist in the pic on the right. 😕

Different straps? 😉

Hey all Omega newbie here, but just purchased my Omega Speedmaster Sapphire Sandwich 3861, and I absolutely love it. I purchased new from AD, noticed immediately that the operating instructions weren't in the box. The said no problem, had one shipped overnight. Only problem I have, is that the service manual does not list the 3861 caliber in the book, therefore I think it's an older service manual. I know this may be silly, but I want to have the correct operating instructions for when this gets passed down. Anyone care to check their Operating instruction booklet to see if 3861 is listed in theirs, so I don't go pester my AD? Thanks in adavance.

Mine came with the old book as well. Bought from an AD. You can find an electronic version of the instructions on the Omega website. That one has the 3861 instructions.

The bracelet looks different on those 2 photos.

Sometimes photos can be deceiving too, different lenses can create different results with distortion etc. Its all about how it looks through your eyes.

Yeah, the manual went through multiple revisions. If I recall correctly, they updated it with 3861 and then with 321.

Looks great on you! My wrist is about 6" and it wears just fine, thanks to the 47mm lug-to-lug and the end links that actually drop at 47mm, not like the older 1861/3 model. Just FYI, your wrist will look slightly smaller when the dial is facing towards you compared to facing out. Because our forearms have two bones (ulna and radius) they cross when we rotate our wrist. Try looking at the mirror and that's how other people would see your watch. Also, the watch size on your wrist will look thinner or fatter depending on the zoom magnification of your phone/camera. This is why the SI swimsuit model photos are taken with gigantic telephoto lenses most of the time 😀

A speedmaster on the wrist is better than a speedmaster not on the wrist, no matter what the size.

Congrats! Big fan of the sapphire version that looks simply much more luxury IMHO. Waiting now for a bit different iteration of Moonwatch, that should come within this month 😀
