Omega 30T2 with applied indices

Hey guys,

I just picked up a new 30T2, now having paid I just noticed (or believe to have noticed - the pics are not great) that what I presume is an applied dot index for 5 o'clock appears to be missing, on an otherwise very attractive dial. See pic:

Now how are these fit to the dial? Are they glue, or fit with a pin like regular applied indices? Could I perhaps hope to find an old spare dial at some point in bad shape poke out one of these from behind the dial and fix it to this dial? I've done this in the past with other regular indices with great success, but this one I'm not so sure about.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks as always,

Ollie 😀

Ollie, they are riveted like other indexes. If you find a donor dial you can install them easily .

Thank you Erich I’m so grateful for all your help 😀

I really love the watch so I’ll no doubt enjoy it nonetheless but will keep my eyes open for a donor dial 😀

If you can measure the diameter. I might have one. Mine are from a bumper dial, so might be smaller, but won't know until you can measure yours

I’ll measure the dial once I receive it - it should be with me next week 😀 thank you

Okay so it arrived today. Turns out the pics were just bad, the indices are all there. What is however a shame is the dial isn’t quite as pristine as it looked in the photos... what a difference a photo can make! Not sure if i'm gonna keep it now unfortunately might be a flip. I’ll wear it over the next couple of days and see how I feel about it. In some lights it is a beautiful salmon that is a struggle to pick up on camera. Who knows maybe I will fall back in love with it.

Original pics are interesting. How can you make pics without showing the white stuff....

After wearing the watch around the house, in lowly lit areas the white spots are not obvious to the naked eye. It also depends on the tilt of your wrist as they can become visible and “invisible” in a just gentle turn of your wrist. I am in my kitchen eating lunch and voila. You can’t see white dots.

The white dots seem to be tiny bubbles on the surface (plating, lacquer)

Out of curiosity, have you put this under a UV light, and does anything fluoresce?

Ollie, I get your disappointment and I'm hard pressed to understand how the sales images were not carefully filtered or Photoshop'd. With that said, I love the leaf hands and second tracks on these old 30T2SC watches. It is hard to find an original in pristine condition. Here is mine.

I appreciate that they’re hard to find, but the pic barely showed any problems, so I thought I was lucky to find one of these few in very good condition. Anyway you win some and lose some. I’ll probably keep it until I find another. The original photo was probably taken with a less than steady hand in evening light. Here’s a pic now later in the day and the white spots appear to be far fewer.

If it's any consolation, your's is nicer than mine.
Haha I don’t take pleasure in having an arguably nicer example than my friends. We all have our own preferences anyway 😀 I just had an expectation which wasn’t met! 1940s omegas are probably my favourite watches and make up the majority of my collection so I’m trying to find excellent examples so I can convince myself to sell a few more of my “just” good examples if that makes sense.

Haha my enjoyment comes from finding beautiful pieces, not by stopping others finding them too 😜

Interesting how our dials are almost identical in design, and yet our V, VI and VII are orientate in the reverse way to each other 😀
