·I had listed this one a few years ago - and then quickly withdrew it having had a change of heart. Now however, I have made the difficult decision to offer you guys this absolutely stunning Omega.
It was two tone dials like this one that first attracted me to 30T2s, and this dial is one of the most clean examples in my collection. I now have 2 or 3 that are very similar and so this one has become a little redundant. So it's now time for it to fly the nest so to speak.
It is a 1943 'Fab Suisse' Omega 30T2 with case reference 2338 and measures 35mm in diameter excluding the crown. It is an absolute delight of a watch, which you'll no doubt agree when you look at the pictures below!
Dial: For a 77 year old watch the dial is in remarkable shape, there is some spotting near 9 O'clock and a little dark patch on the outer minute track by 2 O'clock but otherwise is clean and in my opinion very beautiful. The two tone mirrored dial, beautifully reflects the light whilst the black arabic numerals create a visually bold and easy to read display.
Case: The steel case is in very nice shape and measures a 35mm without crown. It appears to be unpolished and retains all original chamfers and edges. It is very sharp. Needless to say there are scratches and small digs, commensurate to the age of the watch and the many years of enjoyment I am sure it has shared with its owners. The lugs have spring bar holes for easy removal of the straps and the crown appears to be original. I believe the Italians would call this a cylinder case, or a coin case, based on its flat cylindrical form.
Movement: The movement is a 30T2 and is running very well. I have not had it serviced during my ownership and offer no guarantees on accuracy. It is up to the buyers discretion if they wish to service it upon receipt of the watch. I have not experienced anything that concerns me, but as with all second hand watches, I recommend that they are serviced for your peace of mind. The "M" that is etched into the movement is a key detail in "fab Suisse" Omegas, as this should be found on all Omegas from this period - a good indication of the originality of this timepiece.
Strap: The watch is sold as head only - however, I'd be happy to provide one of my old ones free of charge if you'd like to wear it straight away - we can discuss this.
Box / Papers: There are no box and papers.
Price: £1250 ONO (+£50 international shipping, or £15 within the UK)
