This watch had a crazed crystal so I sent it to Timpsons for a replacement, after about two months they rang me and said it had to go back to Omega - another two months and another call to say it had arrived back and was ready to collect
they required a payment of £450 - dont know what you think but I was delighted - the little plastic envelope you can just make out under the watch contains all the redundant parts that were replaced and it now has a fine Omega Case.

Curious as to what they replaced and what's in the envelope

Nice looking watch. I'd say you got off easy since it was sent back to Omega.

Was amazed at the number of components Omega replaced - pleased about all except maybe the new crown which is somewhat amaller in diameter and there fore harder to wind

I would immediately take off the replacement hands and install the old leaf hands
The same for the crown

Maybe install the old crown at the same time. The new one really doesn't fill the gap.

Hi,

Do you know why they replaced the complete balance? I mean, this stuff is getting pretty hard to find. I understand Omega has probably a certain number of spare balances, but still. If the staff was worn or broken, why not changing only it? But maybe it is cheaper, for Omega, to replace the complete balance as it costs way less time.

(By the way, if you do not use the hair spring, people like me could be interested!)

Cheers,
François

Problem with this is immediately voiding the service warranty.
