Me too. trying to learn. I know the 283 is from 1953, to me the dail looks ok, but not sure about the crown.
I asked about photos of the movement but haven't got any reply.

The seamaster 30 is caliber 286, the seller didn't post much information.

So, your only research is reading the seller's description?

I was hoping you could describe and post pictures you googled up on originals of each watch and explain to me why you have doubts when compared to yours. Dial, case, movement, hands.....It sure would save me lots of time.

This is an educational forum amongst many other things and OF expects a bit of effort on the part of posters.

I am not a pro at all, it think the 283 looks ok, but I am not sure about the crown, same for the seamaster 30 I have done some searches and usually I see the Omega logo on the crowns.

My main question was in the first sentence, if the crowns are original or if they have been replaced?

I have googled and compared the dails with others and I don't see any real big issue, but of course I am new at this, that's why I posted here, if I missed something. I think the hands on the 283 looks ok as well.

I was not 100% sure what you where asking. 😀

Crown on the 30 belongs somewhere but not on this watch. The serial number from the 286 (a terrific movement, btw) indicates 1963. My Seamaster 30 is likewise from 1963 (20xxxxxx), yet has the round S, not the coathanger. The round S and the coathanger existed concurrently for a number of years before the coathanger was dropped. I thought the coat hanger logo was discontinued in 1962. This is a source of much debate and not conclusive at all as there were years of overlap. Search this forum for coathanger and you’ll learn more, which, again, is the key to not being disappointed later. In real estate it’s location x3. Here, it’s patience.

Maybe I am missing something but I don’t think the obvious has been stated: the Seamaster 30 is missing its seconds hand. Not the biggest deal but still something to take into consideration (also hoping that a replacement can be fitted and that there is no damage to the pinion (in lack of better word, I am no watchmaker) into which it slides.

Nonetheless, I definitely think that the two-tone is the better option of the two and I think 490 dollars is an ok price (especially if you are based in Europe).

Judging by the photo I think the sweep second pinion is there - have a close look
