·Dear fellow members of OF,
Today I would like to offer you a piece that I have worn for a while when I began collecting and indeed was the very first vintage Omega I ever bought.
This is a reference 2438 housing caliber 351. A quick peek into the known serial number chart from Omega places it in the late 40s. Early examples of this reference (and I will put one also for sale sometime in the future) usually show a printed logo and sometimes cal 28.10.
This one has obviously a rosegold cap and bezel as well as rosegold indices and hands. The case shows signs of wear and maybe light polishing. Crystal is probably not original (as far as I know, these references did not have signed ones yet) but has a nice shape and is not scratched. The caseback is brushed and it screws down to the case, which measures 33,5mm.
The two-tone dial is the star of the show of course with it's nice and even light patina and the unusual reversed cardinal configuration. The dial changes depending on how the light reflects on it. It always made an impression on me! 🥰 Here is how the piece looks on a dark brown strap. Notice this foto is old and the patina and tarnishing on the rosegold is now stronger (please see other fotos).
One element that is not original to the watch is the crown, which is supposed to be a "bowl" type. I have postponed the change for this whole time but I must admit, it never bothered me much in the first place.
The movement runs and operates fine but it has been a while since it was serviced by my watchmaker (maybe 3 years) so I would recommend another one sometime in the future. It still wounds and runs fine though. The bump from the rotor is nicely noticeable.
It comes with a rosegold buckle I found on eBay. Not period correct but the colour matches. The saffiano strap from monstraps is also included!
My asking price is €540 net to me excluding shipping.
I am located in Germany and can ship almost everywhere. No returns unless terribly misrepresented.
