Hi all!

I came across this Omega 2410-1 and am having a hard time finding infos on the reference…It seems like it’s chronometer movement from the mid 40’s, apparently quite rare but not much more than that…

Any thoughts on the reference itself and this example particularly? 😀
Thanks!

I think it's their waterproof chronometer model? pretty rare and this one looks good overall. I would get it if price is right.

Zero military provenance unless there are government ownership markings that can be verified by experts.

This example was just sold for 6,8k euros.

No idea how hard is it to source a right crown…

What a jump in the last 15mins. From 1000 euros to almost 7000 euros lol... I was hoping i was going to snap up a bargain lol

Is it ok for the minute hand to not pass over (at least half) the outer track?

Or is it just an effect of the picture?

It’s unusual for sure, I would expect the minute hand to be longer ordinarily so it’s a seems a red flag to me.

Here's another one, offered last year...

Awful quality pic, but the minute hand seems longer than the one of this thread...

And with the correct crown 😜

ahah for a Watch offered in France with no direct hint of the reference, it was not as low profile as I would have expected 😁

Might have went for more if they opened the auction up to international bids too! 😲

I've been watching this one too....what a result!! @mac_omega I'm very curious to your thoughts as to both the watch and of course the price?

Well, I did not want to comment on a watch which was on offer before the end of auction to begin with. And to be honest I was a bit gobsmacked about the post of @Dsplash as I had planned to bid on the watch which was not easily found by collectors out of Europe, not presented/advertised very well and so I had hoped that it would stay under the radar of the big fish... but after the discussion here on OF I was sure that this hope was in vain, and so it was... unfortunately my bid was too low and I wonder about the high price the 2410 fetched.
pros:
2410 is not a very common reference and with good wearable size and waterproof case
the colour of the dial is also uncommon and this would have been my reason to go for it.
cons:
the condition of the dial was only average, not well preserved, several specs and bubbles, radium burn on the left side (between 8 and 9)
too short minute hand, the lume has been reworked on this hand
rusty seconds hand
wrong replacement crown (an original correct one is very hard to find)
a suspicious corrosion spot on the rim of the case which is a reason to worry, but maybe could be fixed with laser-welding. But these old case alloys can be tricky. I had two SS cases of that era which were impossible to be welded, it only got worse with deeper and larger holes.

And this is mine, with radium all over .. Geiger counter was screaming.

The black dial ones are truly uncommon , in an already uncommon reference

I remember this - very nice specimen with the right amount of patina (but no damage)!
