Hi everyone. Found this in an old box. It's so beautiful. Is it real? Is there supposed to be a seconds hand? Any info would be much appreciated please. Or just point me in the right direction please.

Hi Jim. Thank you for you input. I dont know much about watches. I have read a few pages about services for watches and checking if all the parts are real. Can you give me a few pointers when I do get this serviced and valued. Is it worth much? Is there a model name or something?

Also, it has an engraving on the back. I don't want to share the name but it's dated 1961 for a long service award.

The watch was produced circa 1959, the cal 511 movement has no sweep seconds hand. It has no particular model name, just a gents Omega dress watch, and has a relatively low value compared to more collectible Omega watches because of the gold-filled case, which is not as desirable as stainless steel, solid gold, or gold capped. Also, the spotting on the dial is a condition issue that affects value. And I think it's a relatively small watch by modern standards. Finally, while I don't mind a high quality personal engraving, many people don't like them. These are all considerations that impact value. I'd estimate the value at roughly $200-$300 USD, give or take.

Here is the Omega database page.

Servicing it will be expensive. May be as expensive at the watch(serviced). Servicing it will not add value proportionately. Wear it for some time. If you like it or it has sentimental value then you can consider servicing it. If you want to sell it, do it as is condition. You may be looking at roughly $200-400US.
