This listing has been shared in one of the threads saying it is being bid up for the fun of it. I do like the description though
"These watches are not limited" That's the most honest thing I've ever seen a company say outright. Well done, Swatch. If my local AD sellotaped a piece of paper to it's window saying "Did you know? - Rolex produce over 1 million watches per year" I'd still be paying £5,000 for a Submariner in 2022.
No, they said they are not “limited edition” which is the same thing said of NEW321, Snoopy, etc. I’ll be happy to eat my words, but I give this very little chance of these being widely available - they are most valuable to the Swatch and Omega brands if they are coveted as much/more than they are owned
Over 12hrs later, I Finally get this in my grubby tattooed hands lol it definitely was NOT fun but I managed to get two according to Swatch, they will get more in.
I was there at 9pm the night before. I was number 16 in line. I ended up getting my watches at around noon the next day. The struggle was real. They should have just told us how many watches there were (108). Because there were over thousands lined up the night before.
I can't imagine waiting in line all night then realizing you aren't going to be one who gets a watch. I hope the rumours are true about them being available for purchase online on the 28th (tomorrow) going to be up bright and early to try and secure a couple
You are an unusual case. Very few posters would admit to queuing for 12 hours for a fashion watch (we're far too "cool" /s). Anyway, kudos to you for getting what you want. May I ask, what was the draw for you on this watch? Are you a Speedmaster fan? A general watch guy? Or, perhaps just saw the watch and just wanted it? And how do you feel now you have it? Is the quality acceptable to you? Welcome to the forum btw.
I was there on Saturday morning and I understood from the police it was 100 watches per type I.e planet. In total 1100 watches. Wow 108 in total not much!
I am an IT expert but I understand they might be reluctant to do online sales. As apparently flippers have bots who are much quicker than human. Abs they will buy the watches.
Another interesting review with a positive take. Looking at my G-Shock and the mold marks he is right about the case marks (or lack of them) from the publicity shots on the MoonSwatch.
I don’t think the MoonSwatch is going to be a core driver for environmental problems and anyway.... The pickling process, used to remove impurities from the surface of stainless steel, is environmentally devastating. Not only does pickling cause water, soil and air pollution, it also wastes valuable resources such as nickel, chrome and iron, among others.
The new GREEN generation Youngsters travelling the world, all with their own smart phone full of rare Earth elements, buying glorified plastic... Call me a GOM - Grumpy Old Man . Couldn't care less how it might impact Omega... haven't been an Omega client since 1997 (my 1994 ran flawlessly to 2016) As some people said: We used to be huge Omega Speedmaster fans, but we're O.K. now & enjoy the vintage Speedies we already have. .
