Old Ministry of Defence /RAF watch?

Hi.

I dont know very much about watches but have been gifted this old Omega watch by somebody else who doesn't know a lot about them! From googling around it looks like an old UK Ministry of Defence or RAF watch, but it has no markings on the back as the others online seem to. I suppose it could be a fake, but in other ways it does look very similar to other examples. It also has those circular shapes on the hands that the ones appearing online don't seem to have.

Does anybody recognise the model? I read that serial numbers are stamped inside the case but, as I don't know what I am doing, I don't want to risk opening it up.

Hi I can’t see it being military and also the dial should have Swiss made at the bottom either side off the 6, so no markings suggesting it’s issued but they can get skimmed off but nothing leads me to believe that the case is military either, hope that helps

Hi that is super helpful thanks. It also adds up with there being no markings on the back and the 'hollow' circular shapes on the hands that don't seem to appear on the military omega watches I have seen online. Perhaps it was just a commercial purchase then, or possibly a fake replica copy of a military watch?

Hi

That is a great watch ! The dial was redone..... That could be a very uncommon Omega... looks to be a CK 2410 and could have a 30T2SCRg chronometer movement inside !!!

But i have also seen some CK2410 with non chronometre movements..... in any event it a great case 35 mm steel screwback case wit h18 mm lugs....

congratulations.!

it is a keeper.

Definitely not in the style of watches that were issued. Google Omega 6B/159 to see what they looked like or search here for the same

I have confused myself now as a very similar watch on here (but different hands) is thought to be RAF:

Unreliable 1942 RAF watch

The plot thickens.
That one looks like an omega 56 6b even those come in different variants and the dial is a redial on that too possibly mod, yours is different still to that one so think it’s civilian, still a cool watch though, there is a good fb group called military watches issued only, it’s good for information and identification.

Thanks so much everybody. I just didn't realise that there were so many variants on Omega watches. I had assumed that each model would have a fixed design. I also hadn't thought about the added complexity of parts being changed and replaced.

The only thing I know for certain is that it seems to be keeping time pretty well other than running slightly fast.

If it is 35.5mm in diameter, it is likely a ref. CK 2410 or 2423 with a refinished dial. Even the crown looks similar the original low dome.
