Don't worry, it's in good company.

And the trend is being upheld.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Omega Seamaster Divers.. Have had many.. But none give me the same feeling as wearing a Rolex Submariner... And what 30 year old Seamaster looks as good as my 16610?
..Rolex = Super smooth and completely silent winding...Best winder waterproof system...A bezel you can actually turn with wet fingers (goodbye 2254..)..Superior resale value always..

I feel like Omega needs to one smaller (40mm) diver. The current production is great, but the watches tend to be quite big and high imho.
I like how the 2531.80.00 wears... That one is great even with a shirt!

Does anyone actually know why Omega chose a scalloped bezel as I agree it's not easy to turn (slightly better on the latest model) but still not easy and can only imagine almost impossible in wet scuba gloves? Would love to hear from anyone with experience?

They likely realise nobody actually uses these watches for their intended tool use anymore and haven't since the 90's when the scallop bezel was introduced. It was probably created to look nice above being functional. The Submariner keeps its traditional bezel that's actually useful for the same reason the Speedmaster uses hesalite which is shatterproof (it just breaks into two or three big chunks) and that's just for traditions sake and keeping true to the original design.

Most of these multiple thousand currency watch owners don't actually do anything with them to make use of their bezel/chrono functions etc.

Well, the title says it all and actually to me there is no definitive answer.
So,I wanted to read your opinion on this subject. There are many types of seamasters in omega catalog.
Which one of them in your opinion can best rival the submariner?
How about we put it this way.

With all of the Submariner's in Rolex's backlogged catalogue, which one of them in your opinion can best rival the Omega Seamaster?

i could say the underestimated Jacques-Yves Cousteau watch developed and tested by Omega and Cousteau, marketed in 1970, and nicknamed the “Ploprof” (PLOngeur PROFessionel). but it is not a daily wearer.

(picture borrowed from the net)

I have a 2020 model & have worn it every day since purchase on January 4th. I only have a 6 1/2 " wrist & it doesn't wear big at all, original will have a bit more heft due to the material, but watch is definitely a daily wearer.

What a great conversation piece! Love that 'popeye' minute hand...lol...

Honestly, ALL the Subs look pretty silmilar outside of bezel color and ND/Date; Rolex Subs have looked the same for over 50 years!

The Omega system keeps water out just as well as the Rolex system does. They can both pass the same levels of pressure testing without issue.

If either are not properly maintained, they leak.

If I set aside my watchmaker hat for a minute and put my engineering hat back on, to me if you have to add in all kinds of extra O-rings, you aren't very confident in your design.

Submariner is an entry level dive watch from Rolex, and the entry level dive watch from Omega is Diver 300M, that's my take if we are comparing the catalogues.

In respect of the discontinued watches, I feel 2254.50 - 16610LN and 165.024 - 5517 are great counterparts from their times.

I’m more of a fan of the 1st Gen PO, to me that makes a great Sub alternative overall.

Surely you mean “5513”... As I understand it, ref 5517 was only milsub and possibly COMEX subs..

I was thinking more about 165.024 UK MoD - 5517 milsub.

Don't know about 5517 for COMEX, but I understand SM300 was used by COMEX, tho it's not hyped as much as Rolex watches.
