Dear OF,

I went to purchase a subscription gift for someone today, but only see the “tier 2” option.

I don’t care enough about the member to spend $100! 🤮

Whatever shall I do! 😕

Sincerely,

Confused in OF

@dsio
Probably because YOU are a "tier 2". Once you go 2 it's all you can do...

Had no time to go through all 14 pages here but I wonder how many watch sellers (not private sellers) upgraded their profile to tier 1 at least (seen like three out of 12 I randomly checked). I would expect they will be the first ones to do that as a result of their respect to this awesome site where they are doing business. I’m naive, I know...

Ah I think that’s because of your account already being upgraded. If you click on a users’s avatar in the sidebar a card should pop up that gives you the option. You can also do it from that user’s member profile page from memory.

The ads just got too obnoxious for me. I cancelled my subscription to Pravda (aka The New York Times) and moved that money to Omega Forums. Wisest decision of the week.

Thanks, worked like a charm. 👍

I think a paid supporter should not be subject to a 200 minimum post rule. Many other forums accept paid subscribers as not being bots. See there, now I'm one post closer!!

This forum still runs best on credibility and contributions, I don’t think that paid street-cred would work here.

A big part of the 200 post rule is for us to get to know people better before they access the FS section, the trouble with allowing subscribers to bypass is spending $50 or $100 to gain access could net a scammer 100 times that in return so it would be worth it for them to pay it just to take a shot.

Good point. I wasn't thinking along that line. It's definitely important. Thanks.

You only got 54 more to go- it will creep up faster than you think.

I don't think you need an account, they just provide the means to pay by card. Is that no so?

Ah, OK, I assumed an account was required, I'll try again, thanks.

Not really, I had to set up an account with them as it wouldn't progress the payment. This is was able to do, the dispute was a number of years ago so maybe they forgot. 😉

We’ll look into what other payment options we can support on the next version of our platform, we’ve largely switched our entire development effort over to working on that now and @Trev is having some really good wins on the performance and usability side. I’ve asked him to post some of the screenshots of his work in progress but he doesn’t like anyone seeing it until its done and we’re a couple of months at least, maybe a few months away from deploying it.

It’s really exciting though seeing what we can do with it so far and the opportunities it opens up for the future and thanks to everyone for supporting the site and allowing us build a better future for it, it really means a lot

We’ve been able to significantly increase our usage of cloudflare as a CDN to make the site more responsive especially in Asia, Europe and regional USA thanks to everyone who has supported the site, there will be another round of significant performance improvements once we transition to the new software which Trev is hard at work on atm.

We'll be switching to Stripe for payments, which will support Apple/Google Pay too.

@dsio Hi what does “Custom title on posts and member profile” mean under tier 2 subscription? Thanks.
