I was so confused when I came to the forum the other day and saw ads everywhere, thought maybe they were always there and it was just that I was logged out on my phone (and couldn't remember my password). My browsing of the forums goes in waves, usually spend time here then end up getting the itch to buy a watch and have to stop coming back until the urge passes 馃榾

Gonna go through and setup a subscription some time this weekend, it's yearly bonus time (got lucky my company decided to give everyone a bonus regardless of performance after the shit show 2020 was) and money burning in my pocket means time to lurk the forums more regularly again!

Taking it to the next level: having a subscription AND browsing as a guest with the full ad stream.
(Having been the lucky beneficiary of a generous subscription gift I passed it on in the same fashion, so it鈥檚 almost as if I did 芦 get 禄 a subscription.)

Since the announcement 3 weeks ago, the adverts have been taking steroids especially the last few days they fill the loaded page now. I never knew my time was so valuable. If only my work knew 馃榾
Don鈥檛 think I鈥檒l get past the weekend without taking up a subscription.
Done, the last straw was clicking on a post only to end up looking at a designer 拢175 hoodie.

Unfortunately, I have neither a credit card nor a paypal account, so purchasing a subscription is impossible for me. Wish I could support this place somehow though....

I have a modest collection but one that means the world to me.
Personally, I usually feel like the village idiot, taking advantage of the knowledge and hard work of my friends here.
Yet, I am always embraced and always rewarded.

Help when you can, how you can!
Often times I can only add a joke or an observation.... but occasionally I can help a noob or answer a call and I try to repay.

You will get your chances and in the meantime, chuckle at the adverts!

I usually use an old iPad Mini to browse OF but in recent days the ads have supersized so much that they take up 3/4 of the screen (or more).
I was OK with the ads but now I鈥檓 going to subscribe to get back some normality. Maybe this is a subtle OF tactic 馃槈馃榿

And I guess it鈥檚 about time to get a new device 馃檮

Damn, how old is the Mini? I have one of the early-gen ones here. I'll check it out sometime to see how bad it is.

You are very lucky, I cannot sign in with my very updated iPad because I get a screen stating I have to accept cookies BEFORE I CAN SIGN IN but there is no button or a way to hit an OK button anywhere.

yes, I messaged the Mods......twice, Trev and Bill


No reply as of yet.

I have no problem with iPhone or desktop, but I usually read the iPad and not the iPhone when relaxing away from desktop.


A very 1st World problem, but wanted to howl into the wind, here. Thank you I feel better!

You鈥檙e right, it is really old - 4+ years, Mini 2. The 2 lines of ads were OK as they were the same size as threads, but now they鈥檝e increased in size substantially.

I should upgrade the iPad but keep getting other things, like watches...

Have you checked your Safari settings? (Presuming you鈥檙e using that browser). There鈥檚 a check box to allow cookies, see below:

You know when everyone outside of the US hears Oklahoma now they just think of Tiger King. Anyone claiming to be from there we just assume owns tigers and a rhinestone denim jacket.

That's great. If I don't reply to something, there's a good chance I read it at night and then forgot about it. Lost in the inbox, or I assume @dsio dealt with it. 馃榿

Posting in this forum will always get a response from someone too. Appreciate the bug reports, regardless of cause.
