October 5th 2020 - Snoopy Celebration

I've been lurking on this thread for over a year now. And it has helped me immensely in my acquisition of my Snoopy from my OB (somewhere in Europe).

I realise that there's way too much secrecy on Omega/OB and we as consumers are at a disadvantage, so I hope that my purchase journey would help other collectors in acquiring their Snoopy.

I began my relationship with the OB in early-2021 with a purchase of a PO 600M GMT. Back then the salesman, let's call him Pete, told me to give up hope on acquiring the Snoopy as they will not be allocating any to new paying customers. I returned to the boutique twice in the next few weeks and spoke to different salespeople and got conflicting stories about needing to hit a minimum spend of USD45,000 to qualify.

In June 2021, I purchased a steel Speedmaster 38 for my wife and Pete who sold me the PO started to encourage me to build up and expenditure with them. He told me that a USD25,000 spend would put me on a waitlist but I would surely be considered. When pushed for a timeframe, he wouldn't reveal anything.

In December 2021, I purchased a half gold Seamaster 300. Pete was still playing coy, and told me that since I've hit USD25,000 spend, I'm definitely on the list and the wait could be 9 - 12 months. In February 2022 when I popped by the OB to say 'hi' to Pete, he told me confidently that I'll definitely get an allocation within 2022. So that made me really glad.

In January 2022, when I popped by the boutique hoping to try the new terracotta AT, he told me that his management has raised the bar for the minimum spend and I'll need to spend at least USD33,000 to make the 2022 allocation.

With so much sunk cost in this pursuit, I felt a little bit like I was being held hostage (my bad, I know, for playing these games with the OB). I countered Pete by saying that if I could bundle the Snoopy with another watch that costs USD8,000 (to make the USD33,000 target), I'll go for the purchase. Pete says to give him time to convince his management.

It took him just another two days to say the deal is on. So I bought the Snoopy with another watch.

No offense OP, but you got played. My only purchase history with my OB was the new Speedy bracelet of $800 before I got the call for my Snoopy.

Was this a real OB or an AD with Omega logo out the front?
I find it next to impossible that Omega HQ would approve of this extortion.

Some people have discussed this issue prior. The need to buy more to get an allocation sooner. Maybe $30k spent to purchase a watch might be a lot but imagine the amount of money someone has to spend for a right to purchase a Daytona. At least the person spent 30k and got a few watches it would be worst to spend 30k and only get one.

You're very lucky then. I wasn't able to put down a deposit when the watch was first announced and by the time I got to the OB, they said that the waiting list was closed.

I won't be surprised if the Snoopy I got was meant as an allocation to someone else who was next in queue. The speed with which I got the watch when I told them I'll commit to a bundle seems to signal to me that the OB has some stock at the back and they're deciding how best to allocate these watches.

And yes it's an official OB.

Some spaceflight & astronomy background on "Snoopy"
April 1970... the Apollo 13 mission will always be associated with NASA's Snoopy award for Omega watches Switzerland.
Already in 1969, during Apollo 10 training, Snoopy and Charlie Brown were everywhere at NASA... even on the T-38 taxi jet:

During the Apollo 10 mission, Lunar Module "Snoopy" went snooping above the lunar surface to an altitude of 15 kilometers without landing.
Did You know that in 2011, the Apollo 10 lunar module "Snoopy" was spotted as an artifact orbiting the Earth-Moon system ?
Of course by Australian astronomers of the 2 meter LCOGT Faulkes South telescope - Siding Spring Australia !
Here I was "Down Under" at that remarkable telescope, which has an exact version in the Northern hemisphere named Faulkes North

man this is totally fake news.
Totally.
You were not able to place a deposit when the watch was presented, but than you bought multiple watches from them including precious metal.
Please… this is laughable.

Hey man, I understand your anxiety especially since you've put down a deposit and your allocation date has been shifted at least once.

I gain nothing from sharing my account. My original post's objective was to share information and my own buying experience on how I secured a Snoopy from an OB without being able to put down a deposit in 2020 like yourself.

If I were in your shoe, I would ask your OB to put it down in writing a concrete allocation date, or at least get them to assure you in writing that no one is able to jump the queue on Snoopy allocations.

No anxiety at all. I have confirmation in written and allocation confirmed, without any need to buy any additional watches from them.

The fact is that your story doesn’t hold up.
Anyway, if you are happy with the narrative you are trying to push… good for you.
I don’t buy this for different reasons, including the fact that OBs don’t operate like this and also because buying different watches that you didn’t want doesn’t make sense.
Other forum users with some experience will understand that your story is shaky.

Anyway let’s play your game: they tricked you in spending a lot of money and you finally got the Snoopy. Good for you, smart move!

Im very surprised with what im reading.

first, who cares if he spend a million at this boutique. You wanted the snoopy you have it, enjoy it in great health.

That’s not my experience at all having a snoopy. Bought 1 watch in september, told the ob i wanted a snoop without pushing at all.
Then at the end of october, went back, asking more clearly my interrest because i have a very old relationship with snoopy ( my doll when i was a baby), and took deliver right before january.

the ob never asked me to buy another watch before.
I also said that i probably never sell the snoopy which is VERY important for them.

have a great feeling with the boutique director, inviting me and a +1 at the manufacture at biel in april.

probably have a 321 by the end of the year.

i go visit them from time to time, having a coffee, trying new watches and have a laugh.

RELATIONSHIP is the key word into getting watches, including rolexes

Got the call earlier today. I placed my preorder the day it was announced with a very reputable AD in a market (USA) where there are multiple OBs. Despite what was said in this forum, I got it and didn’t pay the secondary market resell gouging.

Moral of the story, don’t believe everything you hear online and on the forums.

I picked the watch up wearing my 20 year old Seamaster Pro 300M Bond. I’m wearing the Snoopy now and love it.

I went onto the waiting list on the day this was advertised and am apparently in the top 5 at my OB. Called for an update today and they’ve not seen 1 yet and the manager was a little sceptical about ever seeing any. Said they’ve had very little contact with Omega directly other than Omega saying they’ve had obvious issues. I mentioned that they weren’t limited number but he still didn’t sound enthusiastic about the production run.

What’s everyone else’s thoughts? Are they still dripping through slowly? Any idea of worldwide or even regional numbers out there at the min?

Im in the UK by the way.

Is your dealer an official AD or an Omega boutique? My US based Omega boutique saw very few last year but then started getting an average of a one per month and this has continued for the last 6+ months. I PIF Oct 2020 and received my watch April 2022. My Omega AD on the other hand has seen one since release so at least in the US there is a huge discrepancy between OBs and ADs.

If your dealer if an official Omega boutique I would find it very odd that they have received not one snoopy since release.

It’s an OB. Very odd I agree. They’ve always come good in the past with waiting lists and limited edition models so I want to trust them but agree it’s all very odd that they’ve not received a single watch yet.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but on watch finder, the snoopy has a new higher price, does this mean it's getting discontinued? I have noticed this with a lot of other watches, so just assuming if Omega will slow/stop the production of the snoopy

It was actually higher than that and they’ve brought it down. Don’t think it Means anything about being discontinued, just WF either their usual extortionate prices.

What stevec14 said.

WF is just a pre-owned consignment shop. Exactly one scumbag consigned their Snoopy with WF and WF determined on their own that this is the price they want for that specific Snoopy.
