October 5th 2020 - Snoopy Celebration

In 24 days we will all see our fortitude when we are confronted with an unlimited edition priced at $10k+. Too many are dreaming of scoring a $6,500 Snoopy that will go to $40,000 on the secondary market in a couple of years. Ain't going to happen.

I have no dog (beagle or otherwise) in this hunt, but I think people are getting wound up and setting themselves up to be disappointed. The excitement is palpable.
I mean, as long as the watch is nice, I'll buy it. I imagine that'll be the case for many others too.

Is that a watch that will be bought mostly by collectors or mostly by those looking to sell in the future at a profit? Or is it to soon to say. On these LE or limited production runs do you think it’s 50/50. Those of you saying you are “excited” about the release I assume you are saying so as it’s something you are looking forward to owning. I have sold watches but only a couple times did I buy a watch specifically thinking of selling it. I’m not trying to turn this into a flipping thread I’m just curious about the motivations for purchase in general terms not trying to stick anyone out, it’s a free country anyway, or so they say.

Me? Well I missed out on the A11 50th, got on the list too late so for me the Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary is my chance to own a watch that celebrates the NASA missions to the moon. I hope that the watch is not overly limited, I would like to see 7500 pieces as a minimum to give lots of people the chance to own the watch. I hope that Omega don't do 1970 pieces again and we see prices skyrocketing.

While I agree that it's unlikely to reach any sort of the numbers your are staying, I don't believe that "too many" are betting on this happening.

I agee many aren't buying for that reason but there is always that thought that maybe lightning will strike twice.

If this were a Rolex forum, I would be in complete agreement. But it isn't.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! It seems that the rumor of the watch being a limited release versus limited edition is gaining traction. Can't wait for October the 5th 😉

Well said, that looks like a money-making opportunity for many people around and for the sake of them and all that dream of getting at least a Snoopy once a lifetime I hope it won’t be a limited edition! As well hope it won’t be a TT one, as latest Apollo 11!

If TT is made of steel and White gold that's OK

Yesterday I also got the statement that there will be no limitation on the watch. The clock will run in series. I think with the price hike on the last Snoopy, Omega will want to pocket the profit itself.

Having in mind how sales shrunk, it would be stupidity not to do it!

Well, if it is not a LE I hope the price won't be set at 10k or more then.

IMHO, the watch will feature gold, after all this is a 50th Anniversary. I also hope that the watch is NOT limited, I would love to see as many people as possible get hold of this watch and enjoy the celebration, if Omega do make it a limited edition I hope for somewhere above 7500 pieces.

If Omega want to make the watch a real limited edition then solid white gold or platinum and limited to 999 pieces.

Maybe Omega will do both, similar to A11 50th.

Let's see if they put gold on it...

But don't think they will make the same story as the 50th of A11. I bet for one Watch only....

Yep, Gold.

Only because it is a 50th Anniversary, an anniversary that is celebrated with Gold, silver is 25 years.

wouldn't a silver snoopy award watch be a bit odd...in gold? I’m not too familiar but isn’t the NASA award called “silver snoopy”.

The original Omega teaser simply states;

"We're saluting the 50th Anniversary our Silver Snoopy Award, stay tuned, October 5th 2020'.

So it could be absolutely anything, all we have heard from Omega since then is the sound of silence.

This thread is 24 pages long and comprises of; gossip, rumour, speculation and good old fashioned guesswork, and is all the better for it. 😁
