Other brands track serial numbers and blacklist people, so Omega can do his as well.

I’m curious as how a brand can do this, in many cases the watches don’t hang around long before they are bought so tracking a serial number would be difficult if not impossible.

The only way that I can see this happening is if the serial number is displayed when the watch is advertised, then the watch could be tracked, but even then I cannot see how.

My gut feeling is that watches cannot be tracked by manufacturers, the AD who sells a watch cannot pass any data on as that is not permitted, at least in the UK and maybe EU. If there is a way then I am more than happy to be educated.

I've seen the letter from PP that a friend of mine received after he sold a watch, putting him on the black list - it happens.

Fair enough but PP make considerably less watches than Omega or Rolex, tracking maybe easier, or a case of pure bad luck?

My Rolex AD has allegedly blacklisted two customers recently for flipping their watches, one customer was seen going into a UK grey dealer with the watch and coming out without it, the person who saw them was one of the Rolex SA’s on their lunch break, the other occasion was the seller boasting about flipping the watch on FB, someone who saw the post showed the Staff in the store and they recognised him. The store challenged both buyers and both put their hands up and admitted it, both have been blacklisted by the group.

Otherwise the AD admits they have little or no chance of tracking any watch that you or I sell after buying it, catching someone is pure luck.

Either way, it doesn’t really matter. Whether they do or not, for many the 10k profit off the bat will be enough not to buy an omega again!

FWIW, I don’t know either way but I wouldn’t expect omega really are doing so - rather I suspect they like they’ve got a hot one trading well above mrsp.

but that’s only my view.

Not sure why this is a point of contention. It happens, and I’ve seen the results.

No idea if Omega does it, but if they do it wouldn’t be for all their watches, but likely for LE’s only. If you don’t want to believe they can or would do it, that’s fine.

The majority of these watches, if not all, are being delivered through corporate owned boutiques. They absolutely have the data and know which customer originally purchased each watch. They have the capability to blacklist a customer for flipping. I don't know if they are doing it or not.

I believe Omega needs to make it clear to us. It was safe to buy and then sell Omega usually, because you end up sell for less with Omega. It was until Ultraman that Omega informally told me that they would blacklist flippers. So what is their definition of flipping? If I buy a popular piece, say seamaster, but then I sell it for less. Will I still be blacklisted? I hope someone here could give us a clue or something.

And how long is the no-sale period? A year, two years, forever? That's why these sorts of blacklists end up to be ugly and not sustainable.

I don't know, but many ultraman on Chrono24 are from the UK. I was told by the OB that they actually blacklist those flippers. I think if you sell it after 2 years or so, it should be fine. PP has some of similar policies, I believe

Wouldn’t surprise me that UK got a bunch of them since they were released during the optimal UK time and like 5am my time.

No doubt it will divide opinion but thought I would go with something different today on a very nice sunny day in Hyde Park (London).

Killer look!
I still like it better on the steel bracelet, but this seems a valid alternative.
Bravo

And we basically reached 1 year that Omega has my deposit. Deposit that I shouldn’t even call deposit, as I payed the watch in full, taxes included.
Getting tired of waiting…
Some communication would be appreciated. But they don’t write and don’t call, they are just sending emails promoting the NTTD.
I have to be patient, but they are making it very challenging!

Mine was a small deposit in the UK, would have been a year in a months time... Only calls I received was in Feb this year telling me it's delayed to October, then again last month apologising, 'we are no longer an Omega AD therefore we are refunding your deposit.' I'm sure you can imagine... 😲... 😡... 🙁

Fortunately, after reaching out to Omega 🥰 they confirmed I'm still to receive a piece, now allocated with a new AD. After reaching out to them, explaining the situation etc. (they know the story behind the old AD), they confirmed they've been allocated x pieces (single digit) and are waiting news for delivery themselves, if mine will be one of their existing allocation or if they will be allocated an additional piece...

Patient yes, I/they (the AD) have no idea as and when but it's looks likely I'll get one eventually 😎

Glad they were able to make it work for you!
But you are working with an AD, I'm getting zero communication from Omega and OB.
I understand they don't know, but when you reach milestones like 1 year since deposit, sending an official email acknowledging that they know you are waiting and they didn't forget about you it's not only good customer care... it's COMMON SENSE!

I like Omega and love the Snoopy, but they need to improve their communication skills.
They are very active about bombarding me with email regarding the new collection, the NTTD that is back, and getting a watch for my wife. I mean I get at least one promotional email per week.
But what about an update regarding the watch that I payed in full one year ago?
Nope, nothing, zero.

C'mon Omega folks, you can do better!

Just venting with my Omega family here.

Were I am, they are allocating strictly based on your purchase history, not based on who reserved first. If you booked today and your purchase history value ads up to be highest from all the people who are waiting for the same, then you are automatically on the top of the list. I put my name the same time I collected my 50th Apollo 11, months before the announcement of the Silver Snoopy. After buying the 50th Apollo I bought an SMP300, then a 300MC and then a diamond bezel/dial automatic dual tone Constellation for the misses, so I do have a decent record. At the time of collecting the 50th Apollo, I told them to put my name on the 50th Apollo 13 irrespective of how the watch looks like and doesnt matter if it features snoopy or not. Unfortunately, still waiting with no end in sight and I know for a fact that at least 30+ snoopy's have been received and distributed by the HQ of this OB chain of boutiques which is located in Dubai, the HQ in Dubai then decides based on who has the highest purchase history on the current waiting list which is a combined list of all the names collected from all OB's they own in the region, not by first come first serve basis which absolutely sucks for me because, while I have a decent purchase history from them (5 watches), it is nowhere near the top of the list. Furthermore these boutiques are selling all the swatch group brands, naturally there are many who purchased a lot more than me because it is not just based on Omega purchase history but anything spent in their boutiques.

What makes it even worse is knowing that Swatch Group is the owner of this chain of OB's and it is is the largest in the region, so these are instruction directly from them. It is a mechanism that awards the spenders not the Omega collectors/enthusiasts who are committed from the beginning.
