I bet it's gonna be a cartoonish design in a precious metal case.

 

Omega are celebrating 50 years since they were awarded the Silver Snoopy, my guess is that there will be two watches, one will be SS, with a Silver Snoopy and hints of Moonshine gold, limited to 5050 pieces, I would also guess a full Moonshine gold watch with a Silver Snoopy but very limited numbers maybe less than a thousand.

 

I wonder whether this was the plan from the start or because of current circumstances. Omega not dedicating a LE to Apollo 13 itself feels kind of strange as they jump on every opportunity to do a LE.

Weren't all Snoopy related Speedy's linked to Apollo 13 anniversaries?

 

I haven't been in the watch game long enough to comment on the older Snoopy watches, but my thoughts are that with Covid-19 rampaging around the world and the current lockdown in most countries, I wonder whether Omega's plans were changed as a result?

A13 was in April 1970 so logically a tribute watch would have been best announced to link in with the original mission dates, is a Snoopy Anniversary Speedmaster therefore the best that Omega could do in the current climate?

 

Apollo 11 50th was announced in March 2019 and orders could be taken, revealed mid-May 2019 and deliveries started July 2019.....just about perfect timing. If Omega followed this timeline any Apollo 13 edition would have been announced in Dec 2019 and it would have been revealed in Feb. 2020. This is all well before the virus. It appears that Omega had decided to pass on any specific commemoration for the 50th anniversary and will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Snoopy award. How it will be tied to Apollo 13 is a guess, maybe it won't be. And does it HAVE to be a Speedmaster? These days anything is possible.

 

I just hope it is a LE and not just limited production as we heard before

 

This is a good question but yes I think that the Snoopy Anniversary does have to be a Speedmaster, after all it was the Speedmaster being used in the way that it was designed to be used that resulted in Omega being presented with a Silver Snoopy Award.

Therefore, if Omega celebrated this anniversary by issuing a Snoopy on any other watch it just wouldn't be right, would it?

 

Announcement on the 5th of October.... so likely won't hit the stores this year...

It will most likely have gold elements and people are going to "poo poo" it because it's two-toned. It is after all a 50-year anniversary...

 

Don’t think a silver snoopy award anniversary watch will have any gold

 

Perhaps platinum ...

 

Similar to the 50th with gold accents but with snoopy in silver accents.

Have a track record of being on the money remember ( picked the footprint on the 50th months before )

 

Could be white gold if they want to keep the colours a bit more uniform and keep the silver on the caseback.
