My latest acquisition, a 70s Favre Leuba, shows on the dial what looks like "O SWISS MADE O" to the naked eye.
On closer inspection it could also be symbols for water drops (water protected?).
Anyone seen this before?

I've read somewhere else, that means Sigma dial (not O but greek letter Sigma). It refers that the markers of the watch were made of Gold.

That must be the dial then, it actually has a light golden shimmer, the case is stainless steel.
Could really be a (lowercase) greek sigma.

Update: Now that I had the "sigma" hint, I got a lot of hits in google, mainly from the Rolex afficionados, so it is really indicating that at least the indexes (if not the complete dial) are made of gold.

Patek gold dials also have the mark, even on a stainless steel watch.

Why would a steel watch have a gold dial???? 😕 😵‍💫

The O is for 'oro' which means gold.

Really need to see the whole dial, is it refinished? The script quality looks poor.

Much more likely to be a reference to the markers than the dial itself.

Having taken a closer look, I guess you are right. The markers are obviously golden even though that's not perfectly visible in my "iPhone through loupe" photo.

From what I can see, Warren is quite correct:

"1.1.7 What do the "T", "T‹25", and the lower-case Greek sigma on my watch dial mean? These are optional industry markings, found next to the inscription 'Swiss Made' on some watches, which signify what the markers on the dial are made from.

The "T" means that tritium (a low-level radioactive substance) was applied to make the hands and/or markers glow in the dark. The "T‹25" means the same thing, except it spells out that less than 25 milliCuries of radioactive material is used. See section 6.1 for more information about Tritium.
The lower-case Greek sigma means that the markers are made of solid gold."

Hope this helps,
