Apparently the bidders are believing that this Patek was found in the bottom of the ocean and just needs a service to get back in shape.

I say this is as real as a $3 bill and the new owner can swap in a new miyota movement and dial to have the world’s most expensive fake watch.

One born every minute as they say. What I don’t understand is people with enough money to spend on a high value item who don't do their due diligence.

My guess is that the bidders are as real as the watch. Someone is chumming the waters.

I stay off that platform as I have found that the few really nice pieces that show up there sell for multiples of retail price.

Good news for Goodwill, which is a fine charity.

I like goodwill but what’s up with this, are they using wording that it’s authentic?

This is not the first time theyve sold an obviously fake watch as authentic. A few years ago, several members notified a GW seller that the "Calatrava" they had for sale was a bad fake. I believe the response boiled down to "pound sand". You can probably still find the relevant thread.

Very disappointed to hear this. I always drop money in the bell ringers stand this time of year and did some volunteer work for them years back. They do a lot of good things but this is outright theft. They turned a clothes drop off charity into a billion dollar industry, non profit if you will although there have been issues with them in some states. Anyway just disappointing to see.

You confuse Salvation Army (Bell Ringers) with Goodwill. I’m a little shocked this got past them actually. They have learned the hard way not to ignore watches.

It's my understanding that the individual stores all list their stuff on the consolidated site. You are potentially dealing with people with lower standards than ours.

I've had good and bad responses from the individual sellers when I let them know that their products are fakes. It's been several years now since I used their site as the prices are stupid high compared to other auction sites.

I even purchased a batch of watches one time for a single "erotic" watch. The box arrived without the watch. When I contacted them, they said they were so appalled by the disgusting dial that they threw it away. 😲 They were very sorry when I told them the value (just a couple hundred bucks) and gave me a full refund plus shipping.

Sorry dumb of me and it was the goodwill I volunteered for, we would hand out hot drinks to firefighters during cold weather fires. Also contacted military personnel during family emergencies. That’s what disappoints me here I know goodwill does many positive things but this is an outright scam if they know it’s fake

That's actually a pretty good fake until you look at the movement... Hope they will realize their mistake and remove the listing.

That's a modified Miyota 9015 - here is a picture of the same rep (I'm guessing) that didn't go for a swim. Suffice it to say that if these bidders are real, they are idiots.

I think they are describing it as shown, and letting the market decide if it is real or not.

How can they possibly have the resources to determine otherwise.

Have you been to a GW store? If you have, you would immediately see the reality of what a donation non profit looks like.

Worked for similar local charity for years as a volunteer(not GW). It's mostly work release, volunteers and retirees. All good people doing the best they can for a cause they believe in.

I'd be more charitable if they weren't so dismissive when provided information that proves what they're selling is a counterfeit.

Absolutely agree , they are doing their best and understand they do charitable work with little to no pay but dismissing information completely without even looking into it is sad in my opinion.

And to clear everyones retinas of that abomination movement here's the real deal:
