From today’s New York Times ~ is this yet another trademark infringement?

Yeah, I saw that article as well. And had the exact same thought. Unless someone is marketing those as Rolexes (e.g., new at McDonald's the Rolex!) they would have an uphill battle since it is a nickname.
It's why Marvel Comics hasn't sued people using the Hulk nickname. But if Rolex started marketing it as the Hulk....
