Having missed my old Seamaster I bought an old one to replace it but I’m not happy it.
No numbers on case, feels rugged, not centred bezel. The movement does not look right.
Am I being paranoid?
You know when you gave a gut feeling. I have returned the watch because I am not satisfied of its authenticity. There’s no serial number anywhere to be seen.
Anyway, the photos are there if anyone in the future wants to compare their watch.
What worries me is that I cannot find a serial number anywhere on the watch. I could not live with it with that doubt on the back of my mind every time I wore it.
Probably a replacement bezel from memory these are in the same category as the later Bond Seamaster Pros in that Omega doesn't sell the insert and only sells the bezel complete, which is pricey.
To make these look new and fresh people often press out the original bezel that's all scratched up and damaged and replace it with an aftermarket replacement.
Trouble is often while pressing the new one in they don't align it perfectly so you see a lot of used Seamaster divers with fresh looking bezels that are slightly off.
Thread 'No Serial Number on the Speedmaster reduced' ·
Hi guys
I recently fell in love with the look of the omega speedmaster but as i have no interested in owning the 'real moonwatch' i just decided to go for the reduced version which has almost the...
I’ve never seen that particular ETA 955.412 movement used in an Omega. I suppose it could happen. The haphazardly lasered Omega calibre 1438 on the guard over the coil is incorrect for this movement. You did well to return it!
955.412 was used in some Polaris models it seems and would fit here but was never marked 1438 (that was the 255.461) so there has indeed been monkey business here. The rest looks fine. Other than movement swaps like this, which are common, I’ve never seen a fake prebond personally .
The lack of serial is sadly perfectly normal for a late 80s quartz omega or Speedy Reduced as the ink they used washes away in the ultra sonic cleaner. The movements didn’t have a serial as they were there swapped routinely at service.
ps the one in there has an extra jewel over the 1438 and was used in higher end models like Connies too so could be considered an upgrade!
I see no issues with this one. It is actually in pretty good shape. On a lot of those watches at best the serial number was inked on the inside of the case back. I have never seen fakes of those but this one is genuine.

See the above comments about the movement. There is something very not genuine with an ETA 955.412 marked up as a 1438.
