I found this sucker on my loungeroom wall the other day. She's about 12cm across. Aussies know that huntsmen are friendly spiders though 馃榾

Is that all, found this in the bedroom five minutes ago.
Now enjoying the front garden.馃憤

I'll take the huntsman any day over that. At least in Tassie our snakes have the good manners to stay on the ground - and outside, for the main part!

A young blue-tongue lizard just took up residence in our backyard....

It isn't any threat to us but if you're a young blue-tongue, some local animals might want to kill you....like our pet cat and our neighbour's cat...

So a quick trip to Bunnings (DIY hardware chain to non-Aussies) for some chicken wire and we improvised a cat proof enclosure...

Except we've got one minor problem 馃う....

I wouldn't worry about the cat: the lizard has lived this long fine, & will move on in a few days; that fence isn't cat proof.
I have a 2m roofed in fence around the chickens, cats climb on top for fun.

I don't mind them, but the wife is convinced they're just waiting for the opportunity to jump off the wall and onto her face. Best for household harmony to find them a new home outside.

I have had one of those leap on my face. Left pretty quickly, so no worries.

I agree 馃憤

I use my "never fail" Huntsman catcher to safely transport visitor outside. Works well with a clear container also but a bit unnerving when you actually see it move towards your hand 馃槻

You do know you can pick them up by the back leg and carry them without them bitting you.

My wife would pass out if she saw me do that.

On seconds thoughts I would as well!

You do get bonus points for letting it go outside. 馃憤
Living with a entomologist I find all I can kill is cockroaches and cane toads.

I've seen them rear up ready to attack the ice cream container. I won't be trying bare hands.
