NOT a fake gold Connie 2853, but worth discussing

Hi all

I came across this solid gold Constellation 2852 on eBay. First I was excited until I saw the case back, which looks super dodgy to me. Not a super obvious fake IMO (but what do I know). I didn't dare post it in the Fake Thread immediately as I was burnt alive there by the gate keepers last time by posting legit watch that I thought was fake. Discussed with other members via DM, who also agree it's fake. What do you guys think?

https://www.ebay.ch/itm/OMEGA-CONST...501785?hash=item48f89a3819:g:QloAAOSw0E1gHet6

It's almost bid up to USD 4000.

Could you elaborate on what is wrong here? I have limited knowledge when it comes to Connies and would appreciate if you share it.

The only thing I think is wrong is the crown. To my Constellation-untrained eye the rest looks good 🙁

To my eyes, the stars on the medallion are too close to the edge and the text inside of the case back look lasered. Also the triangle with Omega Watch Co looks weird. But maybe I start being overly paranoid and start seeing ghosts. Interested to see what the Connie experts such as @Peemacgee have to say.

I’m also quite curious about what experts have to say. If it is a fake it would fooled me every day of the week. I also happen to find that seller legit... 👎

Looks good to me. Inside caseback font seems weird but I've seen others like that.

Case maker's mark is Antoine Gerlach SA of Geneva. The rest of the case looks fine to me.

the caseback font ('dichtung im bodem') is different from the straight font in a steel caseback, but you can find similar in other gold pieces. details on the caseback might be a bit blurry but if fake this is scary AF

Looks fine to me but I am keen to learn from people with more knowledge.

Hope we are not becoming so paranoid that even real watches are being called out as fake, that would not be good for anyone especially the seller.

Looks legit to me (and unlikely that someone would fake this refs anyway)

Ok, the humble pie to be eaten by me grows with every single response 🤦. I guess, I should change the title to something like:
"NOT a fake gold Connie 2853, but worth discussing"

You are right to ask questions but it might be best to ask here first before posting “fake” if you are not 100% sure, if you are 100% positive and know your onions it can of course protect people.
I would be annoyed if I was the seller, it doesn’t seem fair if the watch is fine does it? 👍

FIFY

Are you implying I put the post up as a clickbait because I'm a poor low life that needs attention here??? That you think that way says more about you than me. I put the post up to learn from the experience of others. And yes, I thought it was a fake, but wanted to vet it first before putting it in the Fake Thread (which for obvious reasons is not going to happen). And clearly the major lesson learnt here is not to call anything a fake unless I'm 100% sure. I should have phrased it differently like "is this gold Connie 2853 legit"?.

It’s ideally someone like @cristos71 you need for gold 2852/3s ( no offence to anyone who has already posted) but it looks a little worn but fine to me.

Don't sweat it.

Interesting, I wondered why the Pie Pan dials I had sold recently seemed to head for mainly Thailand. Is Thailand a source for those dials?
Not sure about specific country, but they do come from Asia.
