Refinished, and the watch is clearly not NOS.

Misrepresented, and not for the first (or second) time by that seller.

Edit: he doesn't claim NOS, but "excellent". Nevertheless, the dial claim is ridiculous.

While the seller doesn't claim NOS, the description implies 100% originality, and therefore whether it is NOS or not is immaterial since in that visual condition and with that tall claim it might as well be.

Here is the description text (watch is already "on hold" despite an astronomical and somewhat baffling asking price of Euro 9,500!):

"Dial and hands are in perfect condition, showing no visible flaws, both absolutely original. A rare sight for a watch from the 30s. The watch case remains in excellent condition."

Gotta love sellers and their embellishment of the truth. More than that though, gotta love trigger-happy buyers! To be fair, does come with EOA (Oh joy!).

Watch is listed for sale again. Guess whoever first requested it got cold feet.

I like the way the person who does his case refinishing just gets fairly near the bezel and then stops himself going further to avoid any chance of a buffing mishap! 😁

Even ignoring this watch and digging through his other inventory and archive this seller has the worst mix of inconsistent case/dial/movement condition combinations I have ever seen from a dealer, and I am not talking about tarnish on nickel plates. You should be extremely careful if you shop with him. A watch with a swapped dial was posted here previously. Buyer beware.

I don't follow this dealer closely but did see a total franken Breitling about a year ago that had the wrong movement in it. I would avoid him entirely.

Maybe the potential buyer visited this thread.

See, we can make a difference!

His watches look amazing at first glance, and I’m not skilled enough to spot all the flaws. This one caught my eye; what’s the verdict? I’m just window shopping for now…
Thoughts:
1. Case overpolished, no sharp edges, looks like a bar of soap?
2. The whole watch looks to good to be true, ie, “restored?”
3. It doesn’t appear to be repainted, the dial detail looks good and the applied logo is v nice.

I‘ve seen a rare dial variation of a chrono that was sourced “directly from the original owners family”, yet the exact same dial had been sold loose on eBay just a month or two earlier. I asked about this, and was told to f-off and that it was none of my business.

Now that sure seems like a highly reputable dealer. 😲🤦
