I will admit, it is a pretty watch, but the fact it's bioceramic (plastic) does give me some pause.

The concept is cool and multiple threads here on the topic from praise that Swatchgroup would offer a “cheaper” alternative to the legendary Moonwatch to the masses, to scorn that they are diluting the brand and selling cheap plastic junk with the Omega logo on it.

Ultimately, i think it was a brilliant move that brings attention about the brand heritage to an entire demographic that wasn’t even alive when the moon landing happened.

Nobody under the age of 60 cares about Everest- but the moon and space is amazing to everyone.

Quite a few people have moved up to the real thing after having one of these. I've bought a couple just to have next to my real ones. And they look amazingly like the real ones.

My wife saw ads for these on her social media and never looked at watches online before. They did pique her interest and we went to see them in the flesh at a swatch store.
She thought they were neat but the idea of paying $350 for a watch that can’t be serviced turned her off. But now she wants a real one and borrows mine from time to time.

So yes, the marketing campaign worked- go Omega, suck it Rolex.

I never understood the hate. I have a "real" Speedy and 3 of the Moonswatches.
Definitely not a replacement, but a fun addition. I'm wearing my "Earth" today.
Anyone taking brand perception that seriously needs to take a chill pill.
I'm pretty sure it ended up being a fact that the move was beneficial for Swatch group as a whole anyway.

The hate is from those that feel like they paid to be part of a special club and now they are just letting anyone in. They should just stick to Rolex then.

Got to see them when I was at my local mall. Previously they were only available at the downtown store and only had one in stock. Nice fun watches and reasonably priced compared to the maurice lacroix aikon tide models at $700. Chinese copies at $30 for the ML

I owned 3 Speedmasters and sold them. Never used the chronograph functions, but got them at good prices I couldn’t pass up

I am surprised I never got one. Perhaps I am awaiting the price drop when these become unrepairable.
It still surprises me the prices broken swatches sell for.

Throw caution to the wind and have some fun😜 These are cheap thrills that will put a smile on your face. They may be unrepairable and eventually destined for the bin, but you will get plenty of wear and joy out of them before that day comes. Much like the Speedmaster, it’s a gotta collect them all kind of situation and have fun doing it.

Exactly what they're for.

I bought my wife this very watch for Xmas last year and she loves it. Inspired her to buy another Swatch last summer, a cute white one with the Queen on it. Good on you Swatch.

OP, be aware that there are indeed fake replica Moonswatches for sale out there. Be careful.

We all keep talking about how they are throw away watches but there are plenty of 30+ year old swatches out there still ticking away. There are also many more in landfills, but hey- they are bioceramic so perfectly fine for the environment…they have “bio” in the name. Kind of like Nature Valley granola bars…totally healthy because they say “nature” on them.

Some of those are junk, but some are actually nicer than the Swatch. There's some interesting videos about them. I think my new white snoopy one may be fake, because the moonphase does not adjust according to the instructions.

For what it’s worth, I hope the thread will stay. I never bothered to look into the uproar about these watches a few years ago. This thread is a helpful summation and appreciation of the whole thing.

Throwing my 2 cents on the pile to say I like them. They're cool and fun and they build interest in the brand for new fans. I've considered getting one, but ruled it out while they were hyped and scalped. I'd be keen to buy the Snoopy if I can get one at retail from Swatch directly.

I've purchased mine on ebay, but I didn't pay over retail for them.
